Just picked up my V8 map disk so looking forward to integrating the latest goodies onto it before loading.

I just got my V8 disk as well. Is there a good reason NOT to load it now? Will I lose the custom POIs? (I don't care either way, I'm hoping the new POI file will have the correct locations of Shell and Maccas!)

Hi, I have been running v8 with the custom pois no problem. I did have to reload them though once I updated to v8.

You now have to go somewhere to get it installed? Really??

It's not that I don't appreciate the work involved in creating the POI list but surely there must be another way. What happens if you live in say, Alice Springs?

I'm discussing this issue right now with them. They have no ACT rep either.

The move to the via an installer only makes this harder to obtain. Direct remuneration would be easier and download would be easier.

It's a bit like having to book an appointment with the Apple Store to have an app you bought installed on your iPad. I've got no problem with paying, just don't see the need to have to take my car somewhere to get it done.

I think you're missing the point of the new arrangement. Sure, aussietig could have put up a PayPal honour system. But given the nature of the Internet, that's still a lot of lost revenue happening. Come on, $20 isn't worth crying over for the effort done to create this.

In commercialising this though, are you aussietig going to fix up any inaccuracies and let us get free fixes?

It's not the $20, it's the having to go somewhere to get it "installed". I mean we're just talking about loading something from an SD card. I'll shut up now...
