With considerable down time at home now following TKR (Total Knee Replacement) surgery 2 weeks ago, I decided I'd have a crack at amalgamating the custom POI's into the map disc contents and re-burn it.

I noted that a language file may need to be removed, so, followed previous experience here and deleted the Portugese language file from the speech folder.

Burned the DVD and tried installing it. No go. So, tried it with a CD-r and still no go.

I followed all instructions here, re-loaded an older map version to enable the upgrade to re-load etc etc.

Have I missed something painfully obvious?

Are you using poinspector? It's the software mostly used for embedding or editing the poi db.

If not, then problem with your burn software.

Use imgburn. It's free and works every time!

no Julian, I'm importing the non SD Card database. So, by my reckoning, no need to use poispector for that.

The unit was not reading the disc at all. Ok...I'll give imgburn a crack. Have used CDBurnerXP previously without fail, but their latest update seems to have removed some of the 'control options' I like to use when burning discs for the RNS.

Yeah if you aren't merging the db from the own disc, just replacing it no need for poinspector. Not sure what you are trying to achieve exactly.

Just trying to tidy it all up. The latest Personal POIs had yet to be loaded to my units (last version was Feb '14 I think). So, wanted to see if the instructions from post #21 worked, as from what I can decipher, the POIs become available (sorted correctly) when searching via a desired locality (am I making sense).

Meh...wanted to have a fiddle and see if it worked...and it does

But.....if searching for "Petrol Stations" near "my position", the search engine shows it is finding entries as the search radius increases, but trips over when I seek to display the results. It tells my my search options are wrong (or similar).

Thoughts? Think I might clean up the HDD, load the map via disc and load the Personal POIs via SD Card. Having too many issues trying to amalgamate the POI file into the disc contents.

Sorry folks ... but I think there are some gremlins appearing with the POI.db3 I created.

Whilst POI has not greyed out, it does seem that adding my custom POIs to the master list has caused it to crash the "search all categories nearby" functionality.

So until there's spare time to sort it out, I will remove the link to download the POI.db3 file.

Most likely again ... just too many custom POI categories for map/unit to handle.

I suspect it's the bloody "Asian", "Indian Restaurants" & "Irish Pubs" POI categories that have killed it, due to the sheer number of co-ordinates. Removing them from the Master List should fix the problem!

But in the meantime, please just use the stock POI.db3 file supplied on the original map instead and not overwrite it with my one.


However, the PersonalPOI.db3 file (which gives you all the cameras) loaded via SD card is working fine and is searchable provided you know the custom POI you want to look for!
