Or you could upgrade to 39xx firmware that has VIM enabled, secret menu enabled, ability to use custom POIs and also custom partition sizes so you don't waste so much space...

I have the Scirocco R 2/2012 and I have tried both patches with no success
I get the DVD/CD error message and I dont press OK and it just stays there...it wont restart itself.
I have no keys in ignition and push the on button so it fires up
I am pushing <> and * which then gets me the black screen which I take for the reboot
I then stick the disc in
It says loading dvd/cd and then I get the error message and it asks me to pusk OK I dont as directed in this thread and it definetely wont restart.
Pull disc out and try DVD.....NARDA
      Farknell
      Any suggestions
Maybe the new RNS510 is onto the patch and wont allow the shortcut

Sounds like it can't read your disc. Try burning at slowest possible speed and try a different brand of cd or a different burner.

3810 adds VIM whether you had it before or not. (The version posted here by kamold or whoever it was)

Hmmm wasn't posted here, got it from another place. Unless they just used kamold's. Interestingly my test menu/secret menu had disappeared despite the VIM still working. Had to use VCDS to get this back again (navigation 37, adaptation 10, then change channel 50 value from 0 to 1 as per maverick's site. Anyway thanks to all and sundry for the various advice sources.

No probs - I was referring to this one, since it also partitions the HDD better so that there's less wasted space (more for music):

Hi All, I have tried both the berto & mycd file & can't get it to work. Has anyone had success on a MY12 RNS510 (particularly a Passat)? The berto file doesn't do anything & the system just re-boots & tries to read the file but then get nothing. RNS510 tries to load the cd but then comes up with an error that says error & it is unable to read & asks me to press OK. No matter how long I leave that mssage on it won't disappear.

The mycd file seems to got through the process & loads etc but then a message pops up at the ens saying update error & ejects the cd & says that once I remove the cd the original "SW" will re-install.

                        Can anyone offer any suggestions?
                        Thanks

                          Just upgrade firmware:

                          It includes VIM.

Anyone had any problems with DVD region code following VIM upgrade?
I'm unable to play region 4 discs since doing the VIM upgrade...
Regarding the changes that I've had to my RNS510 - have had a map upgrade and the VIM...
Am due for service next week, will get the dealer to change it back to region 4.

Region coding can only set via VCDS or dealer tools. Firmware upgrade shouldn't change it.
                              But stranger things have happened....

                                I have a 2013 Tiguan with RNS510.

                                According to the unit I'm running HW-Version H71 and SW-Version 4120.
Is it ok to install VIM on this?

All the talk in this thread seems to be on units with older firmware.

                                Thanks
