GFB DV+ Install

I got round to installing my DV+ today and ran into a small problem. The plug at the back of the DV now sits back an extra few mm so can't be plugged in thanks to the pipe that lives behind it. (Some sort of vent pipe?).

I had to unscrew the pipe to get enough clearance to plug in the DV, then realised it would be pushing against the clip and it's hard edge might dig in and damage the pipe. A little dremel-ing fixed that problem, but I will have to unscrew that other pipe anytime I need to unplug the DV (although lets face it, that's probably the easiest part of getting the DV+ out anyway).

Has anyone else had this problem? Or are things slightly different on the Polo GTI? vs the Golf? (or Audi A1?)

The difference in layout is subtle but I think there is one.
In the end, I got the CVWC guys to fit mine with all my other recent bits, so I can't give a commentary on the difficulty level of the install.
But I did watch the YouTube video the GFB guys posted of them installing it on a Polo GTI and that looked to be the same as the way mine was setup.

How are you finding it after a bit of use?

The install isn't actually too bad. If I hadn't of dropped an allen key down into the exhaust it wouldn't have taken too long at all. The hard part being getting the screw underneath the DV out 1/8th of a turn at a time. A longer allen key would likely have helped too.

The replacement screws provided with the kit have a size larger head and have a textured edge making them far far easier to screw by hand (which means you can get it all the way in without using allen key for anything but the final tightening).

I haven't really driven anywhere but have a couple of comments none the less.

Does it hold boost better?? Maybe, probably?? It feels like it does with the seat-of-pants-o-meter but without testing who can be sure it's not just wishful thinking. In any case it's in there.

Noise wise it's all about the Forge intake. While it sounds a little different now, it really is much the same as before and the old issues remain.

On the street in normal driving (ie not just mashing the loud pedal) it's actually not too bad. A hard shift (especially full throttle 2nd to 3rd) makes a loud pssshhh but otherwise it's very acceptable. At low speeds (like in car parks) it tends to have a whistle/squeely sound as the air moves through the intake, but only at very low revs with little or no throttle (or coming off the throttle??). Since it's building boost so early it can also blow off and make a little noise which can echo off walls.
If I was in and out of an enclosed garage or an enclosed car park it would bother me far more, for the next little while I'm in a car port and an open car port so I don't notice so much... We will see when I get my new garage in a couple of weeks if the intake stays or not.
