    VW then have to prove that the ECU failure was due to the tune - based on the massive amount of ECU tunes out there, that could be an uphill battle for them ?

      Of course, but that would take a time. I remember that failed car was from QLD and he was waiting I think at least 1 month for his car to be fixed. Sure many things can go wrong with the car, but many just happen in the first 2,000km. Considering that when people buy a brand new, they drive a bit more, so it doesn't take that long to clock some kms.

        Drive it crazy hard then whilst stock and then tune it and realise it doesn't need to be pushed as hard to get even better performance and economy

                            There are a fair few VW dealers who are also tune dealers in the USA. Strange we dont have any/many here.

                              Yes, we used one for our Cobra when we lived in the states but the difference being from what was said is the tune was not factory backed
