Whats the cost of a K04 bolt on turbo, full turbo back exhaust, exhaust manifold, intake kit, and full programmable management cost in one hit? and what stage does this refer to? and is there a larger turbo than a K04 that would be suitable?
Thanks!

There is no K04 bolt on kit for the (new) Polo GTI.
For the old 9N3 Polo GTI there was this APR K04 Upgrade kit for $4270
The thing is though, the old Polo (and the current Golf GTI) both used K03 turbos. Since the K03 and K04 have the same exterior housing size and fit the same exhausts etc, it was a relatively simply and inexpensive upgrade.
The turbo on the 1.4TSI Twincharged motor is very different to the K03 and K04 though. Hence why after 6 years of this engine, there aren't any K04 kits for it...

Has anyone done a hybrid turbo conversion on a twin-charged engine?
On another point. Keep in mind the reason that there are so little "bolt on turbo kits" for the modern VW cars... it's because the turbo is integrated into the exhaust manifold, not bolted on further along. So it's not as easy as just swapping the existing turbo for any other random turbo out there.

I am happy to look into getting a custom manifold made up to bolt a hybrid turbo onto it.
Have been reading into the new Borg Warner EFR series turbos in twin scroll configuration. Looking at the EFR 6255 here:

Perhaps coupled with Guy_H ECU, exhaust, intercooler, and intake, it might do the trick

The EFR turbo's are awesome, but way, way to big for the little 1.4 - their smallest supports ~ 375hp, the little 1.4 will only ever see 250 - 275hp. When you see the intake ports of the manifold (and the corresponding intake ports on the head) you will see there is only so much the 1.4 can breathe in.Originally posted by Gambit View PostI am happy to look into getting a custom manifold made up to bolt a hybrid turbo onto it.

The Polo runs a derivative of a K03 standard. Probably more in common with the Mini Cooper R56 than any other VW.
