Just a new stock one from Germany. there is nothing that bolts on that's bigger, so we are investigating remanufacture / enlargement options. the ports are tiny,

How's does the current torque limit work? Is it just settings in software? If you didn't limit the torque what and where would the peak power on the standard engine be?

Sorry, I don't fully understand your question. There are dozens of factors that relate to requested / actual / transmitted torque. it's actually something you could spend days On the engine side, then days on the transmission side of the equation.

Sorry Guy_H. Lazy effort on my part.
Let's start with thge current torque the engine produces. I see the tiorque curve is dead flat over a wide range at 240nm. Obviously the engine can produce more torque than this but it is being capped at 240nm. Do you know how they cap the torque? Is it capped/controlled by the 7DSG software?
            Cheers

Does this type of chipping void warranty?

I am by no means an expert; but I believe it would if they could prove that the chip in some way caused non-standard wear and tear; i.e. extra boost which shortens the life of the turbo and engine components. The good thing I have read about on the APS website is that the code they use is invisible to the factory computers, so they shouldn't know it is there in the event that something does go wrong.

No Problem! - the DSG does not limit torque to 240nm, some marketing department threw that out there a long time ago. Certainly we can only work on wheel torque measurememnt, but this dyno probably will help explain it best.

This is a twincharger Jetta 118TSI with 7 speed dry clutch DSG - power & torque curves based on measured numbers. We expect the Polo to be pretty similar to this.

Modifying a car CAN effect parts of a manufacturers warranty - it can not "VOID" a warranty, pure & simple. This goes for window tinting, aftermarket wheels, stereo's, paint protection etc..

Some software comes with extra engine / drivetrain & breakdown warranty (at a cost) - such as Oettinger: Index

Thanks. As far a physical changes it seems your focus will be on the turbo and exhaust. I for one would also be interested in squeezing a bit more our of the SC. Can you explain more fully why a larger pulley will not be useful? In addition to adding more SC pressure wouldn't a larger pulley mean the SC would be able to run to higher engine revs before being cut out for the turbo to take over?

No need for that, the supercharger is already under utilised with the stock map, and when we change the software, we hold it on longer & there is still more headroom. Remember - the function of the supercharger in this issue is only to complete the lower power / torque curve up to when the turbo takes over!

We have some idea's, but need to do all the measurements firstly. Seems the chassis has a fair bit in common (design wise) with the old MK4 Golf. Certainly that will be a priority!

test drove the polo gti the other day, and i believe braking needs some real attention!!! on a side note the dsg "pop" sound was alot less noticeable compared to the golf.
