Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hey Scratchyratface

I got mine done at Mike Webber. It is all fixed at $1,495 as that is the price set by the distributor (Harding Performance). It doesn't matter where you go it is the price. Although now, you get 4 settings (2 are useless - 95 octine and 104 octine) plus anti theft (debatable if worthwhile) and the security lockout (perfect for turning back to stock prior to dealer looking at it) as APR adjusted with the stronger AUD.

I went with Mike cos a mate and lots of ppl here have dealt with him and like his work. I also got him to do my dancing dials at the same time, plus he is right next to the train station so it was easy dropping the car off and then going to work.

Get it - you won't regret it.

    • 95 Octane ain't that useless if you go out the major metro's and find yourself in need of gas and nowhere in a few hundred km's has 98

Now if I'm going out bush I need to plan ahead and investigate 98 availability as the R doesn't have any switching capability!

      • i just go back to stock.

Or even better, hire a diesel car if I go out far away

        • Can't go back to stock on the R. But when I had a GTI, I'd just go to the 95... why punish yourself by going back to stock

As for hiring a car... sif by a nice car then go out and hire a crap car

              • thought i'd add my 2cents to this thread. Has been a week since I took my MY12 Golf GTI DSG to Quattro motors to have the 6 hr trial installed, they charged $45 upfront which is refundable when you actually decide to go ahead with it. Took awhile to notice the difference, i think mainly because it was 37 degrees that day. But after that, for the past week the car has been awesome, and it certainly does feel like a new car. Will definitely take it back to have it permanently installed, but might wait another week to see if there is going to be any Christmas sales like last year.

might have to play the "drive slow and see how much fuel i can save" game for the time being

hi mate. I got mine done at Prestige and Performance as a mate with an S3 has lots of work done there and likes the service. Mike also did my dancing dials - the code is somewhere on this forum if you search. As an added bonus, APR just released the xmas sale today for the month of December so 15% off all ECU tunes - damn it I was one month too early!

Send me a PM and we can catch up to have a chat if you like over a beer and I can even show you my car for comparision.

                        • Went into Volkspower today by chance to ask how much to do a tune. Dean told me they have 15% off the tune. My response can you do it now. Sure can takes 30 minutes. Done. Oh my god it goes hard now. I love it. 1270 dollars. I can't argue with that.

                              • interesting story - my mother, has APR in her Eos and she likes to give other cars a run every once in a while. APR gives her the confidence to beat most cars on the road. She noticed in her mirror quad headlights, she thought "i'd show that E class who's boss!"
wasn't an E class. It was a Continental GT and she said it made a thundery noise as it flew by
