Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

basically your nott going to make any noticable power unless you have A LOT of cash!
so maybe just do a chip and finish your CAI.
i don't know if you can get an e-manage for a vr6 but that would be a sweet option not hard to tune when you have a laptop"The Stu likes this"

jeez mickey, u've gotten yourself some crazy replies here mate! haha
look here, i've done them and i definately recomend as a start you get a lightened flywheel, 4.24 ring and pinion kit (shorter gears)and the neuspeed lightened and underdrive pulley kit.
I bought my :
Ring and pinion kit from Volksport - est. $850aud incl. shipping
Bildon Motorsport 10lb flywheel - est. $400aud incl. shipping
Neuspeed pulley kit - est. $550 aud incl. shipping
without increasing your power and "wasting" money on your engine, you WILL have noticeably more acceleration in any gear from as low as idle, you wont be dissapointed . . . .

shortening the gearing is definately one way to make the car more punchy. How much did installation of that cost you though?
I have a 3.94 R&P if anyone is interested. You just have to be careful if its a daily driver as you will be doing higher revs on the fwy unless you swap your 5th gear out for a TDI one

$15k , I wish , make it closer to 25-30 !
But he has spent $15k on the motor itself, sourcing the parts and getting them installed was the cheap part.
The guy whos car it s has receipts for all he has spent.I'm soo euro even my missus is shaved...

Woah, new gears...interesting concept.
Cheers for your post Alex, that's some sweet info. That's exactly what I'm looking for, gold star for you!!
It sounds very interesting and (despite the fact it looks slightly expensive) sounds like it would workThe only thing I would be hesitant of would be the Neuspeed pulley's, but that's probably just because I'm telling myself the difference won't be much for the money.
Tim, as you said about thw fwy driving....the thing I'm most worried about is changing my gears and having a CRAP 5th gear for freeway. Is there a 6-speed available for a mk3 anywhere in the world? lol..and if not, how much of a jump would a short 4th to a TDI 5th gear be?Mrk Detailing, premium automotive detailing. Well my last vr6 i had.
Stock standard it made 107.8KW @ the wheels.
After the following
Pod cold air induction
CAT Removed and Resonator after the CAT (so Straight Pipe)
Remus Rear Box.
Car made 112.9KW @ The Wheels.
After this you can do the following.
Under Drive pulley's as recommended
Can see up to approx 3-5KW @ The Wheels
Removal of AC, but personally would not recommend removing a luxury.
Doing the following mods can help the car, if it make a difference in power?
I have no idea.
You can take the throttle body off and give it a good clean. Even remove the water pipes recirculating to the throttlebody. Only thing it does, is make the throttlebody warmer due to hot water constantly on it.
If you look inside the throttlebody you will see to humps in there. Use a die grinder and remove those humps till the throttle boddy is smooth inside.
This has been known to give a much sharper throttle response. So i guess it could change the power delivery in the range.
I never had the chance to do this. I have gotten a VR6 again, so i'll give it a go this time.
Next Mod - The "Euro Plenum" trick. Basically turning intake manifold upside down and you will notice alot of wasted space. People tend to cut the back out and weld a plate from one side to the other so you get a larger intake manifold. Dont forget to clean this out too. It's to mimic the VW Corrado 2.9 VR6 Intake manifold.
Thermal Intake Gasket -
Something else that will help you, it surely does not "really" give you power as such, but what it does it keeps the intake manifold cooler there for better bang with colder denser air. which too can help.
These are only a few things i know off and read about/studied.
Hope this helps your non force inducted ways. lol
But if power os what you are after, than turbo.supercharger kit would have to be the go.Audi S4 (2001) - Imola Yellow

The reason people warn off the extractors on the vr6, is the cost might see you 1 or even 2kw difference so money can be spend better in other areas.
Something else that comes to mind.
I use to have a friend with a VR6 here too.
He had done the Viper induction kit. Full 2.5" exhaust from headers back and Chip, that saw him 118.7KW@the wheels.
Some food for thought.Audi S4 (2001) - Imola Yellow
