Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I reckon that's start to get very expesnsive if you started fiddling round with gearbox's, incl. custom/aftermarket gears. esp, if you pay some one to do it all!

If you went too short 3-4 would be a really big jump, and make for poor driving experience imo. & eventually get annoying. let alone resale and having to shift 3 times to get to 40kph in regular driving.

There are plenty of small mods you can do mickey. Things like cleaning up of the throttle body/plates and cleaning the intake mani are good ideas mickey, imo

Yeah I quite like the idea of cleaning.... I'm doing a bit of an engine overhaul with my next service too; engine flush, coolant system flush and injector/fuel cleaning. Hopefully it'll run nice and smooth and then I'll have a look at the possible cleaning/DIY options.

yeah pretty sure its the fact that cylinders 1, 2, 3, 5 are getting around 180psi compression and the 4th is getting around 105psi and the 6th is getting a measly 80ish psi. so my problem is bad compression.
