Haha! Mine doesn't even HAVE a fan yet!! The weather is warming up though so i'll have to get it on soon. It's in the shed ready to go.

Before I tune it i will change the fuel pressure regulator and the vac hoses as the regs are prone to fail and the hoses could be better.

If that makes no difference then obviously its a tune thing as expected. It cant hurt to get the software anyway for the future.

      Cheers for the encouragement fellas!

      • crazy jumps, mine was a lot more smooth that looks pretty bad. What is your pump set up?

        • As mentioned, pump is a VDO VR6 pump (4bar).

I have some pics to put up, but basically I've replaced the rather cruddy looking old fuel pressure regulator with a spanking new VDO one, replaced the vac lines coming off it with new 6mm rubber ones and sealed them up a bit tighter, then I hooked up the fuel pressure guage i bought today and checked the pressure, which is fine at 60psi/4.5bar at peak boost.

The car does actually feel a bit better but i wont know for sure till it gets back on the dyno next week...

          Cheers

            New FPR...

There was a fair bit of gunk in there....
And all in with new tube:

...and the fuel pressure guage with t-pieces and bits.

and my marvellous led light setup ha!

Just about to duck out and change the fuel filter too...

                • Well folks, after changing all the above and getting it back to the tuners, its exactly the bloody same. There must be some atmospheric or fuel differences here than in the UK cause qpeng swore by their map but that what the problem is.

To make matters worse, the easimap software is totally retarded to use and because the system is narrow-band you cant live map the ECU without an eternity of effing around and buying add on bits to be able to do it!!! So basically its on the dyno and test, stop, read fuel map data, re-map (guessing the parameters), start dyno test again, stop, re check tune data, fine tune map, etc, etc.

The tuner said by the time he figures out how to use the idiotic sotware and does all the tuning I could have used the money to put in a Haltech ecu that he can live-tune in an our!!!! The QPEng harness connector to their P'N'P ecu is actually the same as a Haltech unit, so we might be able to use the qpeng engine harness with a haltech ecu if all else fails. We'll just need a wiring diagram from qpeng.

My tuner is actually going to hook up a time to skype with the qpeng guys to save time while tuning my engine this friday!!!!

                  Soooo frigging annoying.

                              • Sorry, I haven't read the whole thread, but have skimmed over bits and pieces – great work so far. I'm curious as to why you went with the Qpeng in the first place, though - it's a pretty antiquated system in the current climate of management systems and really limits what you’re able to do!

The advantage of aftermarket management is the freedom it gives you, whereas Qpeng offers almost none of this.
With the factory ECU pinouts (readily available off Autodata or probably somewhere online) you can patch the factory harness to any ECU of your choice anyway. I did this previously with both a Wolf3D and a VEMS ECU with good results... Though, this is obviously what you’re looking at doing now using the Qpeng harness!

I say go for it. You’ll only spend a fortune frigging around with a system for which there’s no local support and very limited potential in terms of accurate tuning.

Australia is the capital of aftermarket management systems, yet no one seems to take advantage of it!!!
