looking good mate, liking the way it's coming along...

i'm in the market for some semi-slicks myself, do you mind letting me know how much you paid per tyre? pm me if you want...i was just looking at those yokohama's on the website yesterday.

and as james said, my suspension guy suggested that if the control arms are angled downward, this increases the tendenacy of the car to roll, even though it is lower...mine could be raised to improve this but seeing as it's my daily too i like the look lol.

A lot of posts I've read (trawling the general web when deciding on semi-slicks) have said that the A048R go hard after not too many heat cycles but this may be due to them not being broken in properly. I was advised to drive to the track with them to put a gentle 1st heat cycle into them which should make them stay soft longer and be more predictable. They certainly stuck far beyond my nerve would allow me to push the car at the faster corners.

Yokohama recommend 33 to 36 psi as the operating pressure you should be aiming for (see YOKOHAMA / MRT).

The other thing is that your car will sound like a 4WD with Desert Duellers when you first start driving on them.

Please tell this to more of the pose crowd - they just won't believe me (since a Polo TDi has ZERO performance cred)

No problem, they were $249 a corner fitted and balanced. I've also detailed every cost of this project on the first page I hate reading people's build threads and wondering how much they have spent!

I'll definitely be looking to play with the suspension settings once it's driving around some more too.

Unfortunately the engine checkup/fixing has been delayed, so will have to wait until this is sorted before anything else happens.

thanks mate, appreciate it. where abouts did you get them from? that seems to be a lot cheaper than some of the quotes i have been getting for semi's, yokahama included around sydney.

No worries, I first spoke to Option1Garage, who recommended Craig from Hornibrook Motorsport. Really nice guy, no bull****: Hornibrook Motorsport - Brisbane's Premier Motor Sport Tyre Dealer!

Remember these are probably the cheapest semi's, being only 14". As long as I have no problems with these tyres in the coming months, I'll be going back to him.

Yeah road legal, I think they are standard on Lotus Exige's, but I'm not sure.

Whats the part Number on top of your dead ECU?
Pop that number into Ebay UK.

I'm not sure, it was sent off to some shop and I won't be able to get hold of it until the end of the month

Swapped over the ECU today and cleaned up a few other things.

Car now starts straight away, idles nicely, and revs cleanly to 6,000rpm. VERY HAPPY!

                                Pics for kicks:
