Was a pain welding that as the paint I use is an etch so it makes the alloy super dirty even after extensive cleaning. But turned out alright. There's just nothing like working with virgin alloy.

A tip my mate told me is to go over the area you want to weld with the oxy, set on a Carburising flame. It removes impurities and deoxidizes the surface, apparently. I've never tried it. I need to get some technique downpat before i worry about extensive surface preparation!
