    Manufacturer says less pressure = more heat

    For an 800kg - 1000kg Car these are the cold temps for compressed air

    For 4 laps or more 21-24 psi
    For very short runs 25-28 psi

    target Hot inflation is 30 - 36 psi

    They do however also say that increasing the pressure does in fact reduce the contact patch as you point out, they suggest to do this when running on a wet track and increase the the pressure by 4-8 psi.

    All this changes as the tyres wear too.

    I'm still trying to get my head around it all, there's a lot to learn yet.

    At Phillip Island I was checking temps and pressures after every run and the tyres were behaving as they should. My driving style was observed as too aggressive and hard on the tyres so I was watching tyre wear patterns more closely this time.

    Regardless of all of the above, these are the best tyres I have ever driven on. Their levels of grip are amazing and the breakaway is very progressive (if you can push them that far).

    My occaisional little lock up is probably better managed by experience than tyre pressure in this case. I'm pretty impressed that the brakes could still manage to actually lock up a hot slick on the 5th lap! Who need big discs?!

      Yeah you run more pressure in the wet for the reason i said, plus it cuts through the water better and also opens up the tread.

      Just a suggestion as different tyres have different characteristics. Its a lot to get your head around and unfortunately there's no rules, only theories that work for you. Different tracks even if they seem similar, can change the way your vehicle behaves to no end too.

      That's why there's big bucks in motorsport...
