Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    So, I went and bought a VCDS cable so I could get in and tinker with stuff and so far I have;

*Enabled the traffic button (thanks BlueSup)
*enabled high beam assist (and it works brilliantly)
*given myself the option of turning my drls on/off from the infotainment menu (which will come in handy next time I'm at the drive through...)
*given myself the option of turning on/off the chirping when locking function - though curiously it does not chirp when unlocking)
*changed my coming home/leaving home lights to the fogs lights instead of low beams (which coincides with my ordering led bulbs for the dogs)
*enabling the quantity of fuel needed to refill in maxi dot display (not really overly useful but why not...)
    *traffic sign recognition

    Anyone else done some changes?

im not sure I'll keep the TSR - it turns out you can either have speed displayed in the navy screen OR TSR but not both... so which would you choose?

i've been using the one from Briskoda but hadn't looked at the Golf thread. One thing i'd like to do is rain closing but I gather its not possible or I'm sure it would have popped up on Briskoda. There is instructions in that Golf thread though... so probably worth a bash.

I couldn't get the TSR to work on mine. The coding seemed way off on a few of the steps.
I used this site for the window/sunroof stuff (https://sites.google.com/a/naturalne...dow-open-close)

Enobar, what brand on VCDS cable did you buy. Also did it come with all the software required?

Although it is in a B8 Passat, all the coding is the same as the Skoda but unfortunately I can not get the High Beam Assist working

          So was able to get some assistance today with a Ross Tech VCDS Ver. 17.13 and we were able to activate the following;
          - Instrument Gauge Cluster Sweep - neat...
          - Restore Fan Speed indicator in "AUTO" mode - neat...
          - Increased Sensitivity of the Throttle Pedal - AMAZING!!! This has made such a difference!
          - Auto Hold Release Speed - Very Good!!! and in conjunction with the throttle pedal mod I can now drive with Auto Hold and it just drives away seamlessly!!!

          We were unbale to do the following though;
          - Activate High Beam Assist -I need this!!!
          - Sat Nav Nag Screen
          - Increase indicator from 3 to 4 blinks

Whenever we were in Controller A5 (07 - Coding) it would not accept without stating that we needed to exit / re-try or attempt to manually input. At this point we did not want to cause an issues so we left it as is.

Is there anyone in Brisbane (or surrounds) that has the knowledge with Long Coding to get the above working for me?

Ross-tech. I've seen some horror stories of people using copies - either buy a real one or borrow, but don't trash your car with a copy - except for the OBD11 which is more limited but also quite good apparently

Enobar - would u mind sharing the coding for:-
              1. Enabling high beam assist
              2. Changing CH/LH to use fog lights instead of low beams.

              Please 🙂

Also, is it possible to code "video-in-motion"?

Mine fails to read any coding for Controller A5 as well. It comes up all zeros.

wow, I can't believe I'm being asked like i'm an expert! lol. I only just started at this too, but the threads in Briskoda are excellent..

check this one in particular: Fogs as coming/departure lights are early in the thread.

From memory it was pretty much as stated in that thread.

High beam assist I can remember having to do something slightly different but it was essentially as detailed in Enrique's post on page 36 of this thread - about 1/2 way down. I have a feeling something was a tiny bit different but it was minor. If you have trouble I will go back in and see what i can find - I wish i took better notes sorry! I took photos of the settings along the way but when i got it to work successfully i deleted them.. The one thing I did not realise initially was that I had activated everything required, but you need to go into the light settings in your infotainment and switch it on before it works properly.

I'm happy to help further if you have trouble, but believe me if I could work it out from that post and on the fly it must be pretty doable! lol.

As for video in motion, VCDS is not your answer - Ross Tech have specifically said thats the one thing they will never allow through their cable.

You may need to enter the security access (SA) code before you can go into coding in the A5 front assist module.
Enter 20103 then go into coding.
Same applies for changing adaptation channel settings in 5F infotainment (has the same SA code 20103).
VIM can be enabled with VCP with VIM module.
I believe obdeleven can also do it with extra credits.

lol....all good, and thanks for the help.

i'm used to doing vcds coding back with my mk2 RS days - but back then there was no security access code thingy-ma-jig.

speaking of, if the access code is wrong, does it tell u? or does it still go ahead and let u do it, but it won't work cause the access code was wrong?

I have an obdeleven and have done the following so far:
                            Video in Motion
                            Heated Seats Memory

                            Locking and Unlocking Acoustic Signal
                            Refuel Quantity in Dashboard
                            Battery Charge Level

I will be looking to do the following soon:
                            TSR
                            Throttle Response
                            Air Recirculation memory
                            High Beam Assist
                            Traffic Feature
                            Disable Start Stop
                            Auto Doorm Lock
