Hello everyone. Seems there is an issue with Telstra (possible others) blocking email from our server. If you are trying to sign up I would suggest a different email if possible. If you're trying to reset your password and it fails please use the Contact Us page:

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Mine's an April 2016 build. The update portal is saying "There were no maps for the VIN" which is the first time I've seen that message.
The last time I checked it said 'next update in November', and I think I last updated to 2017 maps released maybe 6 months ago?

Maybe they know their server infrastructure is pitifully slow and stage the rollout of maps to batches of VIN numbers.

    • Yep saw mine is doing that too, it means they have dropped those VINs off getting updates. Same issue the MY15s had not so long ago. I saw the new update there as well last week and was about to download it, so guess no more map updates....

I think it is just a glitch in the update portal again. I downloaded my update last week and now it says there is no update for my VIN.

        • I don't think its a glitch when it happened bang on end of June and was gone in July. They are up to something. I just picked my car up and the dealer said they now have the SD cards so can update for me free anytime. They might have pulled Oz VINs from that site.

The portal is working again this evening and accepting my VIN again. I don't think anyone pulled my VIN - its just the portal playing up.

              • Does anyone have a direct email for Skoda Australia, for when owners want to offer suggestions or make requests for features?

Something that actually gets monitored and responded to? Not just the generic "contact us" tab on almost every company website, that never EVER gets checked or replied to?

I want to specifically request that Skoda makes available a feature where users can select the regions for their updates in the portal. I can understand Europeans wanting to update ALL Euro countries & UK... but Aussies are HIGHLY unlikely to ship our cars overseas, even to NZ, to need any maps other than Aus..... why D/L 22GB of maps, when we only need to update probably 1GB worth?

I can download ok but I can't unpack with the mac and if I just put it on sd card and stick it in it won't update.

                    • I think you would be wasting your time. Its not just these maps, its all maps for all of VAG. They want just one map file to put on the cars leaving the factory without having to think about making multiple variants. At least we can download and update them ourselves unlike a lot of other makers that still charge or you have to get the dealer to do it. If its a big issue the dealers all have the SD cards as well now they told me this week so can do it for you.

                      • The download took over 24 hours (on 100Mb NBN which routinely dl at 60 Mb/s) unpacked and installed this morning, definitely new maps so happy with that. Does anyone know if these maps will also work in the Mk 7 Golf?

                        • Doubt it, the dealers seem to get an SD card that will install on any, so there must be a non VIN linked file version around. Thats pretty slow, I have 100-115Mbit Telstra Cable and it takes a while but maybe around 12hrs? We are being forced onto HFC NBN soon which to my surprise is more expensive than what I was paying with Telstra at a premium and the likelihood of keeping my speed is low once the whole suburb is on the cable. We are already seeing it drops just by them hooking into telstra cable network already....

                          • I'm wondering if anyone has had the same experince updating the Maps. I basically went to the navigation portal, saw my my subscription had expired (date prior to purchasing car). I then clicked "extend" and was re-directed to this url?? • Contact your dealer, from all accounts they should be able to sort out the portal issue, but will need to do an update on your car firmware I believe first.

Thanks woofy. I guess I will have to contact either VW service or another dealership like Barbagello as my dealership DVG Melville shut its doors long ago...I'll report back how I went
