Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Blue tooth and Iphone 5 issues.

Ive just got myself a 2010 Octavia VRS with the Columbus head unit.
When I tried to sync my Iphone 5 nothing happened.
I tap the Phone button on the head unit and it either pauses or/and mutes what ever is being used at the time.
Same with the Phone button on the Steering wheel.

Im currently assuming that I simply dont have bluetooth fitted.

Any tips or hints would be a real help.

Your assumption is correct. It's an easy retrofit however.

Oem is the only choice I can recommend. All others have shortcomings. Where are you located?

SYD eastern suburbs. I keep seeing Fiscon being recommended. Does the OEM provide full function?

I don't know anyone with a Fiscon who is happy with it. OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. It means same as factory.
Pm me if you want some help sorting it out.

I thought bluetooth was standard in the vRS/columbus? Is that not the case?

Nope. Mine came with an aftermarket install from dealer.
