It's funny - when you take ownership of a new car, just how often you really start seeing more of them on the road - the brain is obviously subconsciously keeping senses tuned (or something philosophical like that) - anyway, put simply - since I've taken delivery of my Octavia I've been spotting more regularly around town!
I see them everywhere, I do wonder if I live in an area with more than average. Funny enough until recently there was no dealer nearby so maybe they will do well.
Hmm I may need to put my order in soon. Although after watching some superb reviews I'm wondering if I should get one of those this time. Orders will be opening soon for them as well.

I wouldn't get the top of the range, they were very aggressive with pricing for the sedan at the moment so would be interested to see what they do with the new model. A hatch would do me, but would like the 162kW engine. Only thing putting me off is that these have got wider now, only slightly less than my Santa Fe which is wide enough. These are 20cm longer than it too! I don't need too larger cars, but our intention was to get a new RS and replace our 08 RS hatch and then get the new "Snowman" to join it in 4 yrs or so and replace the Santa Fe. I noted the new Tucson is bigger now and most of the range made in Czech republic so Hyundai must have a factory there.
I put a deposit down today on a Nov 2014 petrol RS with DSG. The car has 12k km on it and im very happy with the deal.
However, as the sale as agreed I was then pushed towards the 'delivery manager' - who was basically a third party rep who is trying to sell me a deal covering internal and external protective coatings and window tinting.
The cost for all three combined in $1500, which I personally don't think is worth it.
Tinting interested me, but I can so this separately myself.
Has anybody else any experience with protective coatings?

I wouldn't recommend the dealer supplied protective coatings, this is where they make a lot of $. I had Modesta paint protection applied to the exterior including wheels (which they removed to apply the coating) by a detailing company in Perth, along with Swissvax interior protection.
I am very happy with the result, bird droppings wipe off easily and water beads off the car. There are lots of products out there, Opti Coat is another popular after market paint protection finish. The reason I went for Modesta is that it doesn't require annual inspection and/or treatment, which of course costs money, just to maintain the warranty. Do your own research and determine how much you are prepared to pay.

Get Care Care Products in Five Dock to do the interior / exterior protection. It will be slightly cheaper but much higher quality & longer lasting. They can probably hook you up with tint.
If not: Rob Salvia at Hunters Hill Window Tint is my go-to guy for tint. One of the best.
carandimage The place where Off-Topic is On-Topic I used to think I was anal-retentive until I started getting involved in car forums
Last question for now...
I hope to collect the car on Tuesday and am still keen on getting the windows tinted. The price through the dealer is $495 and I need to made a decision today if I want it ready by Tuesday.
Is this a decent price?
I contacted a few places yesterday evening by email for quotes (too late to call) - but I'm unlikely to get a response before Monday morning.

Wagon or sedan? Either way I'd say its a little on the high side but not outrageously overpriced. I think I paid $350-$400 for my wagon aftermarket.
