  • It's on the Superb as standard, I used to have one, but definitely not enabled in the OIII. I have an Ambition Pus and Elegance and neither have it. Can be enabled with a cable though.

I doubt whether a dealer would do it, unless you had one who loved Skodas, it probably is not in the official factory coding instructions.

    • I have a nagging thought that it is an offence, at least in NSW, to leave a car unsecured? How would this feature sit with that rule? (Excuse me if I've fallen into a nanny state mindset in error.)

      • Tried the window unlock thing this arvo. Worked a treat! Bugger that I've only discovered it now, a few days out on selling my MKV Golf.

        • If you have an alarm, the doors are locked and the car has an immobiliser, windows make only a minor difference in 'securing' the car. Plus the idea isn't to leave the windows the whole way down, it's to have them cracked an inch or two at the top (and sunroof tilted) to let the air out so it's not as hot when you get back to the car. As you are walking towards the car, hold unlock button, when you get there all windows are open, car is as cool as it could be, start car, drive off ac on and windows up.

I did that all the time on my mk2 rs. Global unlock is such a useful feature.

It's handy if you like to leave the windows down a few cm (which still makes the car secure IMO) on a hot day & like to have the sunroof open a fraction to vent the hot air. I do it with the wifes car to bring the temps down a fraction as it's parked in the open. Unfortunately she doesn't have auto close on the Craptiva so we've had a few instances where a Sydney summer storm has dampened the interior a fraction.

It doesn't need a lot of water to activate - I've had mine work just using the damp chamois on the glass.

What is the definition of "secure"? When I had the Cabrio I'd often leave it parked with the roof down. I assume if this was illegal the ca wouldn't be able to be locked unless the roof was up.

            • I used it mainly when the sunroof was tilted and haven't left windows open in the last decade, with A/C it's not a big deal. In my older cars with no A/C in QLD I did it everyday. People are softer now....

It works pretty quickly in our Mk2, I saw rain starting to come once and it had already closed before I crossed the road to get to it, with hardly a spatter. I found on gusty days that I couldn't leave the sunroof tilted anyway as the air going through set off the interior alarm either by the IR sensor just near the sunroof or by the car moving from the air pressure.

              • I'm experiencing these scratch, ok scoff marks on my door insets on both drive and passenger sides...

                • What do you use to clean the inside? One of the noticable cut backs in the mk3 is the plastics quality. The mk2 was better I reckon (and it didnt have the hard scratchy rear doors like the mk3)

I use einszett 1z "cockpit premium interior cleaner". Not only does it add protectant to the interior (like 303 aerospace) but it has a great citrus smell!

                  • Haven't cleaned the interior just yet, i've had it for three weeks now. After the first week I tidied the inside, quick vacuum and cloth wipe but none of those markings.... tomorrow I will properly clean the car inside and see what will get it out...

                      • Yep, 303 or the einszett 1z that I mentioned are awesome interior products. I wouldn't use anything else

                        • How you guys going with fuel economy?

My TSI RS is still being driven in so its hard to say, done about 1600km so far. Suburban drives seem to be around the 8-9L/100km mark, mid-high 7's if traffic/route is favorable. Adding a bit of freeway in seems to bring it to around mid 7's. AC seems to make a difference of about 1L/100km as it's been pretty hot since I got the car and it's hard to drive without it during the day.

I know I'm not supposed to be looking for eco at this stage but just curious. I came from a 1.4 TSI with the 7-speed DSG which has almost identical consumption figures on paper, so will be interesting to see after more kms whether the figures with the RS are similar to what I previously got, which would be quite impressive given the displacement difference.

                          • I get between 6.5-7.5/100km depending on traffic, my right foot and if i have the AC on. I usually get 600-650km before it hits the red and tells me to refuel. Mine's passed 6000km and run in well enough. All in normal mode with occasional bursts in Sport.

I have an Ambition 1.4TSI with about 9,000k. Economy averages (long term) 6.5 - 6.7 with about 70% city driving. Occasional long trips down the M1. Short trips can be in the high 7's or more. Can get mid-low 5's for hwy with steady 100-110km/h. Only used sport mode very occasionally.

I've only just got mine, but computer says 7.5 L / 100 and we do short trips. Though that is with the wife driving on a brand new engine, so expect it to get better if a) I drive b) engine gets run in/loosens up.

Shows mid 5s on highway at a steady pace, but I'm not driving smoothly at the moment, varying revs/load constantly while running in, so expect the economy is worse than what would be normal.
