  • What has everybody done with their air boxes? While I would love a nice carbon air box I simply cant bring myself to spend $900.00 for something that never gets seen by anybody.
What about something like this - haven't checked on freight costs yet....

I pulled the stock air box apart tonight for a look - seems like it may flow alright with a decent cotton filter, has some cold air routing as well.
I ditched the debris / flow restriction plate in the bottom before reassembly.

Mod plans for the car are only going to be a stage 2 tune & new down pipe from the turbo with a single hi-flow cat

Yes, thats the one! I didn't make it to last VITS but I'm hoping I'll be able to get to the next one to see it again.

There's a huge thread on golfmk7.com here: Show Us Your Intake! - GOLFMK7 - VW GTI MKVII Forum / VW Golf R Forum / VW Golf MKVII Forum

It's funny reading the options change as months (and pages) go by. I'm not sure the open intakes do anything but make more noise and rob you of power...

*If* I was to do anything I'd get a replacement panel filter by BMC. It's about $130. Claims very fine filtration, and they make filters for all F1 winners, Le Man winners, Supercars winners etc. - in other words a proven brand.

I'm looking in to this to start of with. Welcome to REVO | Revo Technik
The first issue with the intake is the flow to the box. If you have a good look it stretches all the way across the front but only a quarter picks up air. The left side hole just lets air through to the engine bay. If you want to change the box later this will still work with it.

Thanks I hadn't even thought of checking the golf mk vii forum
Would I be right in assuming most of the parts will bolt directly into ours?

Had read std air box will flow upto 300bhp which is what I had in mind, but need to find out what is realistically achievable with a stg 2 tune and basic mods

Will speak to a few Brisbane based shops before I make my decision on software / tune

                • VCDS question:
                  Where Do I buy 1?
                  How much should I pay?
                  Which Model do I need?

Anyone selling 1 that will work on an 2016 Skoda?

I don't want to annoy Lams every 2nd day.
                  Cheers all

                  • You can buy it from Rosstech in USA, US$250 plus delivery, which i think is US$90. Depending on what you are trying to achieve, the option is for the OBD11, which is about $80 delivered.

Seems like Ill need the "VCDS License with HEX-USB+CAN Unlimted VIN (All VAG)"
                      Who in Oz sells them?

                      • I don't know who sells it in OZ, but from what I understand the VCDS cable is the dongle and the software from Rosstech is freely downloadable from their website. Someone with VCDS will be able to confirm.

I couldn't justify the cost of the Rosstech VCDS, even when we were at parity, so i have the OBD11.

                          • Hey guys,

Just picked up my MY16 Octavia RS162TSI wagon on Saturday. Looking to remove the "Octavia" and "Skoda" badges on the rear hatch. I assume these can be removed without leaving holes that will require filling?

Just use a hair dryer and patiently remove the badges once the glue gets soft.

                                Thanks venom.

Loving the car so far. It's my daily, so I won't get carried away with mods, but looking to also drop in some Eibach Pro Kit springs, a tune of some sort, and maybe change up the exhaust a bit to make it sound a bit angrier.
