You wouldn't believe how many customers I only charged for "check only - no adjustment required" because their wheel alignment problem was purely mis-matched tyre pressures.

What kind of alignment issue would cause this?

Looks like it's been rubbing on the spring perch? Is that the inside edge?

Is there much feathering on the other blocks or are they fairly smooth?

That's a Goodyear F1A 1/2?

Thats a front tyre and the crack is the inside edge. I think both were like that. I'll put up a rear one...its a doozy....

This is a rear one....my sister posted these on FB this morning complaining that the mechanic who did an oil change in the US in Feb said the tyres were fine, but another who did it today said replace them all, plus get an aligment and replace stuffed shocks....this is the third time my sister and her husband have been told these things....these were new tyres last year.

My wife has reprimanded me saying that perhaps posting "Stevie wonder would have noticed those rears ones were worn from 100m away" wasn't the most helpful thing to tell my sister.....

What car? Is it something like a Kia Carnival people mover or a Chrysler Voyager?

The rears look like shockingly low inflation pressures - like half recomended & alignment issues.

The front really looks like mechanical damage - almost as if the tyres are massively oversized.

I'd love to see the factory tyre size, actual tyre size & the wheel alignment read-out.

My Sister always seems to let her tyres get FUBAR like that all the time - I think lots of people do.

I don't know which car it was, but both are mid sized Sedans in the US. I've seen this kinda thing on both their cars, this will either be some cheapo GM made sedan or a mid sized Hyundai. I was trying to work out if someone put the wrong sized tyre on the fronts to cause that. Apparently the shock absorbers are completely stuffed. I wouldn't be surprised if they were so broken that some part of them has ruptured and rubbed the tyre there. Low inflation for sure in the rears amongst other things. Lets just say my US born bro in law spends a lot of money on guns he can't afford and not on things like this.

Nope, desert they were near Bakersfield CA and now are in Fresno CA. Dry heat area. The guy reckons it's all alignment causing both the splits and the rear. But the shocks are gone as well but they are postponing it. The tyre place advised not to do that or the tyres will be munched up again, but I haven't heard either if that is because they are rubbing or just worn.

I think know those two areas - They'd be near Yosemite? I got the impression they'd been hit pretty hard by the GFC?

Anyway, hopefully they'll get it sorted.

Not wealthy areas, they moved there from New York for a job my brother in law slacked off in, and subsequently lost. So he worked as a security guard and is now a policeman. Not a lot of money, but he buys videogames, computers and 1k guns when they should be paying mortgages and fixing things. My sister married a child.....they are getting an aligment done, but both front tyres had those cracks but she hasn't been told why apart from no alignment killed those tyres.

The Goodyear F1A2 seem to be selling at very low and irresistible prices
The PS3 is still a top choice, no question about it
