Email Notifications Failing (mostly Telstra)
Hello everyone. Seems there is an issue with Telstra (possible others) blocking email from our server. If you are trying to sign up I would suggest a different email if possible. If you're trying to reset your password and it fails please use the Contact Us page:
Yes, bit of a mystery that one. I'm sure there's a logical explanation. Haven't been able to spend much time on it. Will look into it as soon as I can.
I've been thinking further about the map issue Venom. It may be possible that map updates are locked out, as i downloaded the theoretical correct one from the map portal and it gave the same response as the newer maps. Tried the ROW map from Skoda South Africa as well with the same response. Haven't tried setting the cars date back to before delivery date, which is the license expiry from the portal though.
Do they provide any updates free of charge at all anymore, or is it just left to pay. I'm a big believer that despite when a car was built, if there was a map update when it was on the ship, it should be up to date on handover. It should be part of predelivery. And there should also be a period of time where it should be free as well, no excuse for a 40k plus car having out of date software. There are enough VAG cars in Australia these days that the economy of scale should apply, ie most car companies update it free while under warranty, and Hyundai/Kia will do it as long as you get it serviced with them, for up to 7 yrs.
Retail drive away quote was $52k...so at $49k it's a 3k or 5.7% discount.
Thanks to everyone for your prompt feedback, it has supported what I was anticipating to pay as well. Will continue to aim for $47 - $47.5k or $48k max if they throw in a few additional incentives. Will report back soon hopefully with some good news.
P.s. If anyone wants to PM me their recommended dealer, where you achieved your deal, it would also be most appreciated.
Great news! I managed to secure a deal today (deposit paid):
MY16 Octavia RS 162TSI Wagon, DSG, Tech Pack, Comfort Pack, 18" Black Pack, Sunroof, Auto Tailgate, Race Blue, Premium Window Tint (lifetime warranty), Boot Netting System, Fold Out Rubber/Textile Boot Mat, Full Tank of Fuel - $48.5k drive-away.
Probably not the best discount but with the base price increase of $900 for the new MY16 model not too shabby, plus tired of shopping around with multiple dealers. Now the wait begins...
Congrats! I don't think that is a bad price at all, I would love my RS to have the Tech pack and the Comfort Pack if the wait wasn't that bad.(I ended up with someone else's cancelled order RS wagon with black pack and Auto Tailgate).
Congratulations Zenio, welcome to the club! Good buy, now that you have paid the deposit forget about the price. I hope you negotiated the extended warranty into the deal.

Thanks and looking forward to be part of the club. Definitely happy with the price paid, even though I could have gotten a better deal, ultimately the economic cost of chasing around dealers for few more days just wasn't worth it. As for the extended warranty, didn't manage to work it into the deal, but I change cars every 2-3 years, so wasn't a deciding factor for this particular purchase.
