Some random questions for anyone willing to answer:
1) With the tech pack, where is the Smart Start button located? It looks to be on the steering column where a normal key hole is located.
2) I noticed in a picture that there is a small LED on the drivers door where a conventional door lock button would be located (you know those little black buttons you's push and pull to lock/unlock the door on older cars). What is that, and is it present on the other doors?
3) If I'm reading some of the above posts properly, it looks like regardless of what options you add, the RS is not available with a reversing camera or folding mirrors from the factory, or as an official after market option. Is this correct? My Honda Civic hatch has these for crying out loud!
4) Does anyone know if the paddles on the DSG version are the same as the one's used in the Golf GTI/R? Hence, could after-market paddles for the Golf's be used on the RS?2016 GTI Performance | Pure White | JB1 | Dog Bone | Full Tint | Stop/Start Delete | Avatar by sandwg

Ill snap a picture, but no rain sensing wipers, but auto lights. I just have an auto dip rear view mirror, no box under the mirror like on the mk6. Also my stalks have grooves in them and aren't smooth and round like the mk6 either.
When speaking to another dealer, only week 45, 2014 got the rvc. So I'm guessing it's also when it got the folding mirrors and the rain sensing wipers. ..
Paddles are apparently different to the vw paddles, but someone thinks they are similar to the audi.. No one has confirmed this yet from the research I've done.

Don't use logic! I don't see the point of them much either. I have parked in some tiny spots in Hobart which as a chronic parking shortage and I still prefer them out as they keep people away from the more expensive side panels. It's not like in a 1/1000 time someone might use them they can't just push them in manually when they get out.
I'm pretty sure all RS models and all the Elegance models have had auto rain sensing wipers from day 1. The Mk2s did. The RVC is a different story it wasn't there primarily I thought due to shortages of the parts in the VAG group. Foldable mirrors has only just come along with the comfort pack.
So your no 3 question, to get the folding mirrors you get the comfort pack, not sure if you get them seperately as they tend to be linked to electric seats in the past. RVC has been standard since MY15 in the elegance and the RS.

I was strangely never offered anything like that when I got mine, but the dealer was new and I think they forgot. I got the window tint and paint protection done elsewhere. I think I will get the dealer to add in tint this time as long as its a reasonable type. I normally expect not to pay anymore for it. My last car they wouldn't do that so I got it done by someone recommended for about $300 for fairly premium stuff. Not sure where to get it done in SE Melb next time as the guy I used likes to pull trim off on the door panels to get the tint film all the way in.

Interesting questions regarding tinting here as well. From my own experience dealer optioned tinting is never as good as proper aftermarket stuff, and normally costs more too. The other advantage to aftermarket is that you can go darker than legal - if you're prepared to possibly have issues with the po-po at some point lol.
EDIT: Actually electronic folding mirrors are super useful for the mirror on the passenger side. Can't always easily reach that while driving. I have folded my mirrors in before when the sun was behind me and effectively blinding me. Instead of adjusting the mirrors to reflect light elsewhere, I simply hit the fold button and they tucked in. A few minutes later when my orientation to the sun changed I hit the button again and everything was as it always was. No having to redo my mirror alignment. Lazy and a very uncommon problem, I know.Last edited by mattaus; 17-04-2015, 11:02 AM.2016 GTI Performance | Pure White | JB1 | Dog Bone | Full Tint | Stop/Start Delete | Avatar by sandwg

Or $300 for premium 3M tint that blocks a lot of UV and heat as well as lasting much longer. The premium tint is worth paying for over the course of ownership of 5+ years.
I assume you get your car done by Rob Tait in Ringwood? He loves pulling door trims off but last i heard he refuses to do VW group product as he breaks too many trim clips, etc.carandimage The place where Off-Topic is On-Topic

It is on the steering column where the normal key hole is located. For hands free unlocking just grip the either front door handle. To lock, touch sensor on the left of the door handle

its the alarm or similar. Flashes red when the car is locked. Only on the drivers door. Buttons don't pop up/down

I have the Elegance with tech pack which included the folding mirrors. Built 10/14. Reversing camera was not included in my original sale, but came with it

I used Rob based on recommendations and he had done quite a few Hyundai Santa Fes all OK. Did a great job but I have also heard he doesn't like doing VAG cars. Someone on here recommended someone else down further south for them. Rob did a good job with quality film on my big car for $300 from memory.
