  • It's funny, I hear people saying x car has more equipment, but they don't seem to count xenon's, radar cruise etc that the Skoda had that most others don't (especially at this price range).

The rs with tech pack covers just about everything, except memory seats.

Glad you ended up in the right car

      • So the Scout will be the first to get the lane assist system, as per the article.

        • The 2.0L 132tsi should be interesting with a remap. Shades of the 125tsi Tiguan that had so much to gain just with a simple tune.

          No horrible 7 speed either...

It's a real shame there's no manual offered in the TSI.

              • It is, but sadly most Australians just don't care. Even in the Octavia, it's offered in manual in more models than any of the competitors. Mazda 6 you can't even get as a manual, at all.

I think in this case it isn't due to VWA's pigheadedness - this combination isn't available in any market. I'd prefer a TSI manual too.

Again they persist with ridiculous option packs meaning the one thing you may find useful is bundled with a whole lot of other **** you would rather not have.

                  • 1.8awd TSI manual Octavia is available in Norway not sure about the scout though. Considering over 60% of Octavias sold in the UK are manual, I'd be surprised if it wasn't available. Although most sold there are also diesel, which has that combination.

                    • I was specifically referring to the article posted above regarding the new Scout in Aus. The article indicates the TSI is only available in DSG, which is crap IMO.

                      • Just put 52.41 litres into the 'about 50 litre' fuel tank, with DTE reading 15km.
                        T/C reading was 8.0 l/100 - actual was 8.33.

                        • My first tank ran at ~11L/100km. Slow commuting mostly. But G.O.R. in 2 weeks!!

                            GOR- awesome!
Mine included a run to Victor (about 60 kms each way at 80-100 with hills) which it did 7.0 which was pretty good as I was continually using the gears to vary revs and load it up. I've found it best in light traffic runs to work - done a couple in the 6s. Work -home through the hills brings the worst but more fun!

                            • Not really had an opportunity to get it on boost for a couple of gear changes yet. Although I did elicit some wicked axle tramp in first. Seems not to cope too well with a boot full in first, better rolling on from second.

                              Other thoughts:
No fuel tank lock or remote release is weird.
A little less responsive than hoped, maybe it will improve.
ACC seemed to slip further behind the vehicle I was following, will try again.
Auto parking was a bit slower a process than just doing it yourself.
Sound maker sounds crap in Sports mode, better (less obtrusive) in Normal. I'd like to hear and feel the engine itself, no matter how quiet it is.
Looks tougher than anticipated in blue with black pack.
Canton not as good as McIntosh of Liberty.
Kessy - need to read the book to get it to unlock all doors when I'm near, or in the car. Annoying everyone else at present by locking them out.
Auto tailgate - handy. Nifty that you can set the height it raises to.
Carpets thin. Suspect they will wear through in drivers footwell before long.
Door trims a bit cheap too but not where you touch them. However I notice they are marking readily with fingerprints.
                              Proper handbrake FTW.
Steering wheel looks good but leather not as supple as Momo on the Liberty was. And does not go around the full wheel.
LHS indicator stalk feels unnatural, even though I'm used to it.
GPS pronunciation is terrible, and being dependent on it in a new city I am learning it takes the shortest route which is invariably the slowest.
Is there an option to dim/turn off the screen?
                              Phone connection excellent and simple.
Seats comfy but again leather a little less soft than previous ride.
AC is up to the job.
                              Gear shift is nice.
Clutch could be a bit heavier, as could steering.

That's about all I can think of after a week.

I've had plenty. Out in the hills it is lots of fun.
Although I did elicit some wicked axle tramp in first. Seems not to cope too well with a boot full in first, better rolling on from second.

Yeah I'll be laying off it in first - tyres won't last long otherwise. (Are yours Potenza S001?)

The SSV and XR6T were same so used to that.
A little less responsive than hoped, maybe it will improve.
Better in sports mode with increased throttle inputs. Trouble is the "Eco-tips" get you changed up so early that you are always in a high gear/low revs where lag is prevalent.
ACC seemed to slip further behind the vehicle I was following, will try again.
Auto parking was a bit slower a process than just doing it yourself.
Two things I don't have but won't miss.
Sound maker sounds crap in Sports mode, better (less obtrusive) in Normal. I'd like to hear and feel the engine itself, no matter how quiet it is.
Yeah my 14 yr old daughter says it's 'unnecessary' lol. Actually when I'm in the hills and revs are up I don't mind it so much. Setup Individual Mode so you have the sound off but other stuff on sports. Unfortunately that means you don't get the increased throttle response either.
Looks tougher than anticipated in blue with black pack.
Ditto - I would never have considered ordering Moon White... But I love it with the black pack.
Canton not as good as McIntosh of Liberty.
After the crap in the SSV even the standard sound seems good. Do miss the Mac though.
Kessy - need to read the book to get it to unlock all doors when I'm near, or in the car.
Annoying everyone else at present by locking them out.
KESSY is about the only thing I wish I had. I found the option to make all doors open on first push of the button ok. Dunno if it's different with KESSY. Download the skoda app- the manual is searchable.
Auto tailgate - handy. Nifty that you can set the height it raises to.
Again - I wouldn't have ordered it- but it is really cool and handy to open remotely. Similarly with the pano roof - really like it.
Carpets thin. Suspect they will wear through in drivers footwell before long.
Yep I'm gonna buy a cheap mat to go over the mats lol

Steering wheel looks good but leather not as supple as Momo on the Liberty was. And does not go around the full wheel.
LHS indicator stalk feels unnatural, even though I'm used to it.
I've only stuffed up twice. Only when rushed/trying to do multiple things quickly.
GPS pronunciation is terrible, and being dependent on it in a new city I am learning it takes the shortest route which is invariably the slowest.
Only used it once. The system is nice and quick to load at least. Lack of camera alerts sux big time. I've got the garmin up too.
Is there an option to dim/turn off the screen?
It varies with the dash light dim I believe which is through the menus so not very simple to get to. Make sure it is turned on to auto to select day/night mode. Mine wasn't and it's way too bright at night if not.
                                Phone connection excellent and simple.
Seats comfy but again leather a little less soft than previous ride.

                                Gear shift is nice.
Clutch and gearshift is so easy.
Clutch could be a bit heavier, as could steering.
Assistance drops quite a bit via driving mode options.

That's about all I can think of after a week.
