Yeah I remember when Mazda moved to more Eco paints with the launch of the Mazda 3 and people commenting how soft it was. We had the last of the 323s and its paint as a world apart.
Maybe one of the owners with a roof can pipe up, but Skoda's ones are already tinted quite a lot, and are 94+% UV protection in the glass alone.
I won't be getting the roof glass tinted.
Edit: and they have a reasonable level of ir (heat) protection too. Don't think of the glass like a glasshouse.....
I've had a pano roof RS wagon for 2 and a bit weeks now and you're right ... the pano glass has a very heavy tint with good heat protection. I ordered the pano roof mainly to lighten up the all black/grey interior and thought that I would always have to close the electric blind when driving in full sun in warmer months. Much to my surprise, I only close the blind when parked outside on a hot day but the sunroof blind open button is always pressed just after the start button (and today was a 31 degree sunny day). My family really love it too... especially the back seat passengers (there's a couple of pics of the roof on this thread on page 227)
I highly recommend it ... it's one of my favourite features of the car!

Mark, stop it. Your making a very good case for the Pano Roof option. Can you post some pics of the roof from above please. Cheers Al
One thing nobody here has mentioned is some decent surface film protection for the bonnet / front guards / lower doors.
Despite regular waxing, sealants etc, the front of my car looks like it's been in a sand storm on the leading edge of the bonnet. If I was doing it again I'd get my tint guy to apply a clear surface film to protect the paint.
carandimage The place where Off-Topic is On-Topic I used to think I was anal-retentive until I started getting involved in car forums
It was already on the lower rear door sections on our RS and on our Santa Fe as well. Although I realised on the weekend that when my door was repainted they didn't put a new one on.
My Dad put some on their Integra years back, you could buy the 3M stuff for it yourself. All seems to have disappeared now though.
10mm toughened glass is ~25kg/m2. I don't think it's much more than 40kg including frame etc. Replaces prob 5-10kg of steel, so lucky to see a 25kg increase in weight.
As for the clear protection, you can still get it, and 3m still does it. I have a brother in law who is a sign writer, so may get him to wrap the front.... Or I might live with the fact cars get wear
2014 Skoda Ambition Plus 103TSI candy white wagon, 6sp Manual, Tech pack, Panoramic Sunroof, 18's, Colour Maxidot, Comfort BT
Ordered 07 May 14 (Wk 15), Built Wk 37, Loaded 27/9 (wk 39), Docked 12/11 (wk 46), DELIVERED! 12/12 (end of wk 50 - 7 months + 1 week).
Just got confirmation from my dealer that my hatch TSi DSG RS has been built and is scheduled to dock in Melbourne on 18/11, with a delivery 2-3 weeks after that
I ordered in mid June and was quoted end of December delivery, looks like it'll just be a week or two early, I can't wait for it. This is my first car (previous car was shared with family) and I've not been this excited for Christmas in a long time

Film protection is on my list brad, for the front/bonnet, door edges (I hate it when my OH hits a wall when opening the car door) and around other parts of the rear doors/frame.
Something to look at procuring I need Dec/Jan.
Godzilla, good luck with the p protection and tint decision. The quote seems reasonable, only question is how good are they?
