New Octavia ....when? How Much?

Can someone kindly direct me how to track the progress of the car with VIN? I've just got the VIN from the dealer its long 17 digits. Can't wait to see where is the car! Thank you

I'll link when I get home, but type 'track my car vw watercooled' into google, and there is a link how to do it.

On the w and w site, once it shows as scheduled, you can get a IMO number or callsign which is easier to track than vessel name

My car has been in Perth for 3 weeks now, and is still not in the hands of the dealer. Discovered today that the reason is due to a 19" Extreme rim being damaged in transit, and a replacement needing to come from the factory. Happy with the dealer, as she tells me as much information as she can when she gets it, because she can only get this information through Skoda. But a little concerned with how the damage occurred and what else may be a bit suspect. So, ordered in March, confirmed in May when the Tech Pack pricing was available, built end of July (week 30), loaded on a ship 2nd week of August, arrived in Fremantle 12th September, possibly in my hands around 11th October.

One of the RORO operators probably cut a corner and scraped it. A mate of mine was doing RORO in Finland (he was probably working in Sweden though) - minimal pay & they really have to hustle. He owned an XC Falcon with a 7L bigblock in Sydney & he probably helped a lot of future owners run their cars in.

I wouldn't be overly worried

Thank you Dzl_Dubba. I've tried to put vin into cargo I'd and got "no record found ". Does it mean the car hasn't been on the ship or do I need to put more info? Cheers

You can only track it while it's near the coast too.

Thanks Brad, that's reassuring. The plus side of stretching it out for 4 weeks means my excitement of the car's arrival in port can ease before the real excitement starts when I get the keys.

Almost on the road: Race Blue Octavia RS TSI wagon with 19" black pack, tech pack (with RC after market), leather, auto-boot.

Replacing Skoda Superb Elegance, if anyone is looking for one in Perth.

Hi Idsh42,

When I was tracking mine:

You can use wild card searches on the Wallenius Wilhelmsen shipping site to find out similar cars. For example, to search for all MY2015 cars, use a Cargo ID of TMB%F00%. If you want to search for RS wagons, use TMBKE9N%F00%. You will get a list of all the cars matching the search, and can click on the link to find which ship/port. It did take more than 10 days to get on the ship.

Once you get the ship ID, I found the best tracking was with the free FindShip app on Android.

You can verify your version using the VIN, which is decoded roughly like:
1. Region: T
2. Country: M
3. Manufacturer: B
4. Series: K for Octavia III
5. Engine: E for 162kW
6. Restraint: 9 - number of airbags
7. Model: N for Combi
8. Don't know what the next character is for
9. Check Digit: single digit, could be anything
10. Year: F for MY2015
11. Assembly Plant: 0
Serial Number: last 6 digits

If you want to find out the model, you can past the VIN into this site: igorweb.org/vindec/default.aspx. If worked for my car.
