  • New Octavia ....when? How Much?

There's only south tolerance before I start to think SLO-DA is taking the piss. Dealer advises order placed 11 April will not be built now until week 42. After being offered august delivery, bumped to September delivery, then told week 38 build, it's now week 42 with no satisfactory explanation. I have raised a complaint with SKODA. I await a response next week.

    • Skoda Gold Coast has two RS - blue hatch and white wagon, both manual and with Black Pack 19" rims. With red stitching and flat bottomed wheel. Looks beautiful.

I have written a complaint letter and has my dealer lodge it on my behalf. Skoda don't seem to give a ****. My car is confirmed build date next Friday(week 3 ordered may 7(week 19). I'm expecting it just before Xmas, after being told 3-4 months for delivery when I ordered (end Aug, start of September originally). For a ambition+.......

        • Spoke with my dealer when i picked mine up on Friday and he said the wait times are turning alot of people off, it seems to be a lottery when ordering as i ordered back in April and picked it up in Sept. Venom ordered his a while ago too and would've had it if not for the mistake with the transmission choice. Hang in there guys, it'll be worth the wait!

            • Hi Guys, I have been ready this forum with interest since my May order of a RS wagon manual with every option but this is my first post. I have been in constant contact with my dealer re delivery time and have been getting no result. I was given a build date of 22/7 but up until last week the car still did not have a VIN. I have been getting very frustrated as I would call in or email and always be promised an answer in "a couple of days" but would then have to follow up again after a week of no contact. Finally this week I get my first call back and i'm told there is a hold up with MANUAL GEARBOXES with no eta. He claims it is effecting Golf and Audi to and effects up to 60 OZ bound vehicles, anyone heard this? Or is this just a crock off s*!@. Makes me wonder if my order hasn't been stuffed up and just been discovered.

              • I don't think Skoda oz could tell their arse from their elbow, let alone know what's going on. No reports of gearbox shortages on briskoda, and that's normally the first place any info appears.

Communication with customers is the single biggest failing Skoda oz has. The ****house wait times would be more bearable with unprompted updates from Skoda to customers. Once a car is ordered, of its got a lengthy delay (3+ months) Skoda should be pro active and take up communication with customers, rather than leave it up to the dealers to have to chase info up first hand.

I wish they would read forums like this to get a genuine, honest opinion from customers and prospective customers, and be able to address these issues.

This is making me wonder further if we should just sit with our DSG order and not change to manual as we still haven't heard a thing from our dealer since the order. I've heard this before elsewhere but can't remember where exactly.

Is there anything that doesn't delay the order for an RS? If it skips into February (Jan is bad enough) after being guaranteed in at our signing that it would be no later than early Jan (possibly a stupid guarantee), we're out unfortunately. We simply can't wait that long to replace what we have.

                  • They will use any excuse to justify delays. "Oh sir, you wanted paint on that? Well unfortunately there is a delay on paint, and wheels and doors"

It's all ****. Poms are getting same spec cars in 2-3 months delivered. They just don't give a toss about the Aussie market - if they did, the brand would grow incredibly and scavenge sales from vw. Vw AU's controls Skoda, so will never allow that to happen.

                    • My biggest concern through all of this has been the lack of updates. I told the dealer at the start that if he kept me informed I would be the easiest customer he ever dealt with. Instead I've heard nothing and the conspiracy theories start to form in your head. The dealer knows I'm in the trade(used commercial vehicles) and against my better judgement I ordered the Skoda knowing full well it will be lucky to worth 50% of its value in 3 years even taking into account I can sell it retail trough my yard. If I didnt have my first child due any minute I would cancel the order now, but as we all know there is nothing that compares with the Octavia for size and value. Skoda have us by the proverbials.

                      • Scott - I would suggest that you put a post on Skoda AU's Facebook page first thing tomorrow morning explaining what the dealer has told you. This will get you a contact directly at Skoda and you can get them to check the status of your order. Good luck!

You've only got one child on the way and you are worried you'll need a wagon? Pfft, we have three kids (9, 5, 4) and we all fit OK in our Golf7. Having said that, it should get a little more comfortable once the girls are out out of their booster seat.

We have a luggage box too for the roof and at Christmas time we traveled away with the dog and large esky in the boot and all the rest on the roof. No probs.

So dont think you need to worry about a wagon just yet

Car manufacturers work on a 'just in time' basis where they estimate the amount of parts needed and these arrive from suppliers just before they are needed. They have to estimate in advance the break-up of demand for options such as the split between manual and auto gearboxes ordered by customers. If customer orders are different from their estimates then yes, they could have too few manual gearboxes and too many autos until they adjust supply which takes time. Whether you are being told the truth I don't know but whenever demand exceeds supply these things can happen. Ford underestimated the demand for manual gearboxes on the recent GT 351 which I believe has delayed some customers receiving their cars.

Given that the majority of European cars are sold with manual gearboxes, I doubt this is the case. They'd be pumping the damn things out by the thousands & there are multiple production facilities.
