New Octavia ....when? How Much?

You beat me to it . The information I posted was based on details from another tuning brand. I have since got confirmation from APR regarding this and the APR representative said, "The New Gen 3 EA888 engine runs a Simos ECU. The ECU upgrade for the 2014 VRS isn't available yet, so we will know more in the coming months."

Regarding the previous chat about ecu and tuning. I asked the APR rep over on briskoda if the RS is a direct port flash like the GTI and he said yes, since they share the same Siemens ecu.

Phew, BIG sigh of relief. I'm optimistic now about the possibility of a tune . There is a lot of information out there, just need to filter through them. I guess we just need to wait for the tunes to get released in AUS and take it from there.

I like the seats in the current RS over full leather, the Alcantara and the fabric stop you sliding around as much. I find the leather much nicer than the paper thin stuff Hyundai used which peels off the steering wheel at the slightest bump. Thank God I saw people complaining about the Highlanders and didn't get leather seats.

The stuff used in my workmates 2006 luxury 6 has held up very well and is pretty nice.

It would be good if the cloth + Alcantara seats that are in the Gold Highline wagon were availble to the Octavia, they are very supportive and comfortable...

Just rumours at this stage, though it may happen to celebrate 40 years of skoda RS. Maybe something at the paris motor show in October

Generally also stays in good condition longer, and having two ferals (kids) is a much better ownership experience than cloth. BTW I think I'll be getting an Ambition+ with Tech Pack as well but haven't decided on the colour.

Amb+ with tech pack is awesome value for money. Even with the povo cloth seats :p

I have a old Mercedes brochure around that shows the S Class with standard MTex (vinyl) - but you could upgrade to velour ! (like a Commodore back in the day too).

I have had both cloth and leather (including heated and vented leather in my last car) but cloth, is much preferred by my family and I (heat/cold/grip/look). I wouldn't order a Elegance for that reason alone. Leather can get old quickly - our 06 Jettas seats look like new - unlike any similar car with leather from that era.

Leather does not equal luxury but these days it is impossible to get a upmarket model from almost any manufacturer without it. Annoying...

She has seen the inside of the RS and the red inserts have not gone down well at all - and of course the grey is NA here...

The ride of the RS is also a concern out in the country where the roads aren't even good in town let alone out in the sticks (where I often have to travel to), Scout ? - have to see how that is optioned up...

So many choices we have in cars but none ever seems to fit the bill exactly.

Was quoted $41k for Elegance TDI tech pack on 2.8%
