Seems weird, I was always (and still am) amazed how much better our RS handles bumps etc than our Mazda 6 did with much higher profile tyres. They were like chalk and cheese on the same bumpy rds.

I would be expecting around the same. Although the local dealer isn't exactly in a spot where you can get a decent drive in really.

I got the call from my dealer today about the RVC tech pack delay. Like others have said if you order the tech pack with the rvc it won't be built 'til October. My order have been adjusted to be the tech pack without the camera, hopefully it hasn't delayed it much!

Good idea to check with your dealer about the issue.

I really dont see what the fuss with reverse camera is. The octavia has pretty good (compared to a lot of other cars) vision all round, and the rs has front and rear sensors doesnt it? I cant see it doing something you can already do yourself easily (i.e. look around before reversing, and have the sensors as backup). But anyway, hopefully you get your car earlier because of no rvc

I'm still waiting on build week for mine, but I have heard it does take a long time before they list a build week in the system.

I much prefer rear sensors over a camera anyday, you can tell how close by the sound in the VAG systems and still keep your eyes looking where they should, ie backwards if reversing. The best use of cameras is when hooking up to something on the towbar really, otherwise you should always check for objects before getting in the car (says the guy who reversed over the old headunit a few months back just after putting it outside the drivers door).

Yep, it was one of the first things I checked.

On another note, it seems the new TSI engines allow left-foot braking! Pleasant surprise.

What car did you have previously to compare it to?

By saying it allows left foot braking, I gather it means it allows you to blip the throttle while braking?

Fabia 1.2 TSI. Tap the brakes and it would cut all throttle input. Maybe it's only the pleb spec VAG cars that stop the fun.

Fabias are quite a soft car - would explain the difference in ride between that and the Octavia. We have a jazz and while the ride in the Octavia is firmer, it's much more controlled and not as 'harsh'

I'm not just comparing to the Fabia, which was reasonably firm btw It feels like the rear is over sprung and the tyres are mismatched. Just poorly tuned I guess.

Yeah your dealer has to adjust the orders codes to either be the tech pack w/ RVC (October build) or the Tech Pack w/o RVC (June build). Thats what mine called me about yesterday, anyone with an RS on order should give their dealer a ring if they haven't called yet.

I don't think it'll effect other Trims with tech packs since they don't have RVC

Anyone that has actually got theirs now - how long did it take before the dealer told you what build week you were allocated? Or did you just wait until the dealer called and said "it's here!" ?
