It has something to do with the unavailability of the Adaptive Cruise parts/sensors as there is a higher demand and parts are unavailable so there will be a delay in the tech pack builds... Not sure if it's all models or just the RS.

Skoda isn't doing themselves any favours here. How they could have expected a low demand on the car from around the world, let alone the European market amazes me. The conspiracy theorist inside me wants to think the parent company has a hand in this . .

I was looking forward to adding a performance ECU software upgrade on my car but it seems the Octavia RS uses a tricore encrypted version of the Bosch MED17.5 series ECU. Which means we can only reprogram the tune by a benchflash/BDM process which requires removing the ECU from the vehicle. There goes the warranty sigh!

More info? APR are already testing the tune in Europe on a RS. I think your warranty will be gone even if the ecu didn't require removing.Originally posted by vEnOm_oz View PostI was looking forward to adding a performance ECU software upgrade on my car but it seems the Octavia RS uses a tricore encrypted version of the Bosch MED17.5 series ECU. I have heard they are going to remove adaptive cruise from the UK market...... Hope because I ordered a MY14 car I still get it..... Accept it may cause delay

Really?! I thought those words and science was folklore among the VWW community . .

It's not a question of being harder, it's about having to take the ECU out of the car, open it up and benchflash it. I'm sure all aftermarket tuners do it now a days. I personally am not comfortable doing that to a new car. I was under the impression this could be done without putting the ECU under the knife.

That's all the info I have at the moment. Yes, companies are testing the tunes on the new cars at the moment. Not necessarily, the warranty maybe void if there are any issues to the car because of the aftermarket tune. But in this case the ECU has to be taken out of the car and opened up to be reflashed. I believe the removal of the ECU requires cutting through some single use bolts holding a bracket in place.

Fair enough. The Mk7 GTI tune is a direct port flash, thought it was the same with the RS......oh well.Originally posted by vEnOm_oz View PostThat's all the info I have at the moment. You're right it can be done through the OBD port, but they can still tell it was flashed.Originally posted by Dzl_Dubba View PostFair enough. That is what I was hoping for with the new RS - installing the tune with a direct port flash. I would have been fine doing that, ah well!

Just had to take my Elegance back for the tailgate striker to be adjusted. They gave me a Ambition + liftback with tech pack to drive. That 103 TSI motor is sweet !! I d be disappointed driving that car though, looks low rent with the cloth seats, tiny screen and monochrome maxi dot. The "Canton" is great though, not sure its $600 worth however.2014 MY14 Corrida Red Elegance Wagon TDI

The seat material is very cheap. However Skoda 'leather' was horrible fake stuff, so if down the track they look shabby I figured I'd take it to an upholsterer and get real leather put on the car for ~2-2.5k. I've had proper real leather before (in commodores) and it doesn't feel anything like the stuff they claim is leather in Skodas. ( or any jap manufacturer like Mazda for example). Ford leather also wasn't as nice.... Had to get into a BMW or merc to get better leather that was actually real. (And i'm not sure their latest stuff on c/3 series is real still). But totally agree the fabric makes the interior feel cheap. The elegance looks much more premium, but for me it doesn't feel right. I love listening to music, so the canton is worth every penny!Originally posted by Antiplastix View PostJust had to take my Elegance back for the tailgate striker to be adjusted.
