  • New Octavia ....when? How Much?

Hey everyone, I thought I would start up a discussion with regard to the new Octavia. From what i've heard / read, the new model should see Aus release sometime in the next month (Nov).

I'm in the market for a new family car and am holding off my decision pending the octy release. There's also very little info about the pricing and model structure for the Aussie release. Any thoughts?

I've been looking at info with regard to the UK models and it looks like there are 4 spec levels for the Octy:

S, SE, Elegance and of course the VRS

With VAG announcing that they would like to separate the Skoda a little more from VW they may be considering making the the Aussie models a little cheaper in both price and spec. I hope that they don't skip too much on the equipment. I've included a link to the brochure and the spec levels look great!

I'm in the same boat - ready to upgrade and proceed with an order, but am worried about VAG's current tendency to ignore manual gearboxes. I was keen on either a Golf Wagon or Octavia Wagon, but on hearing the former will only be offered with DSG then that option is out.

      Perhaps we will get similar spec to the NZ offerings;

So would the pricing be comparable to New Zealand? Starting around 35k?

The UK specs bare no resemblance to what the aus specs will be.
Even with the current mk2, we get a lot more things included as standard, compared to the UK spec, where many things r options.

NZ, on the otherhand get almost everything under the sun, if not, as an option.
For example - electric folding mirrors on the vRS. Aus & UK markets don't get it, neither is it an option. NZ on the otherhand get it as a std fit.

Then again, unlike here in Aus, Skoda NZ is not under VW's control. They r brought in and sold by a different company. So they can pick and choose wat is std & wat is available as option.

U gotta wait till the fat lady (VwGA) sings, announcing the aus specs & options available for the new mk3 Octavia range.

You're right about NZ being different!

The Mk7 Golf GTI is $60K in NZ while the Octavia RS is $47K ($49K DSG)! Octy has Xenons and Discover Pro sat nav standard too.

I'd be happy if the octy was 10K cheaper than the GTI

I'm guessing more than last model starting RRP.

It could well be lower with lots of options dropped out to be added back at lower cost. Overall I can't see it being lower though. I can see if they do go the cut back standard features that I will be having a hard time getting them to put them all back for a reasonable package. I'm not going to start considering one until the end of the following year and even then may wait until the new prod starts in 2015 to get the MY16 model.

My brother works for Skoda and he tells me that the normal Octavia will be available from Nov/Dec this year (exact date not known yet), with the vRS to follow in about April 2014.

reading the briskoda forums - the build times on the new octavias is ridculous now, to a point some have had their build dates removeed indefinately!!

"parts shortage". lane assist as an example.

more than likely the new golf is being given first dibs at securing the parts so they can satisfy VW orders.

My logic is that by the time I am in a position to negotiate a deal I will be waiting some time. And with the delays we see here in the last few years it may well mean getting the next MY. I'm OK with that, we still love our current Octy, I was lucky in the first year or so they had built up local stock for launch and could drive my car away 2 days later with all the bits already on it I wanted.

The Nov/Dec is about normal timing for us for a new MY so not really anything different to what we have before. The RS delay is annoying though as they should be here the same time, again they are probably stockpiling.

If that was the case then there would be delays in Seat models as well?
