Reading the Briskoda My16 thread, they mention that all new cars built at present and onwards will be plated as MY16 instead of MY15. Is that only for the UK /EU market or is that global, in which meaning orders placed after week 22 will be plated MY16?

It's been a while. I'm returning to the thread (and possibly the club) after ordering and subsequently cancelling our vRS order late last year as the date was constantly slipping. I'm not sure if serendipity is in evidence, but our situation has recently changed after buying an Audi A4 quattro wagon instead and we've been looking for the past couple days at a Novated Lease, so i was keen to see how long it would be to order a new vRS THIS time.... only to notice a familiar looking car on my way in the dealer's door (it's GORGEOUS). Seems like our car was never cancelled and it had arrived yesterday, just over 9 months after ordering. Spooky.
The order is a bit all over the place as they added stuff that was never in our quote (RVC, apparently comfort pack instead of just leather) but we were going to change it to manual and they never did that before we cancelled.
My questions are:
Any chance they'll do us a better price now as our original quote & order price is pretty clear to see?
It's hard to price the changes (we've got Canton, but not the tech pack for example), so as it's EOFY are they likely to deal with added extras instead?
Is there ANY chance they'll do the 1.2% finance even though they say these cars aren't eligible (assuming the novated lease company accepts it)?
We were quoted $1700 for the new-design tow-bar which has a low ball-weight rating - expensive and a bit pointless perhaps?
Lastly, manuals on these types of car, are they a liability (desirability) or an asset? Dealer was suggesting that no-one wants one really.
At the moment i think we're looking at $47500 for 2015 Moon white DSG wagon with 18" black pack, sunroof, canton sound, RVC, leather (or comfort) + in-house CC tint (already done).
Cheers for any suggestions!Last edited by barfarina; 17-06-2015, 11:35 AM.

A very happy driver of a manual VRS here. To put it in perspective the manual won't have any of the inherent issues of the DSG, although the DSGs are excellent on the new Skodas. The question is, are you happy to live with a manual transmission on a day to day basis as opposed to the convenience of the DSG. Also, keep in mind that the DSG comes with a manual mode with paddle shifters.
I would aim for around the $45,000 mark on the car and would stress that I'll buy it now, depending on how keen you are. I'm sure the dealer is looking to close as many sales as possible for the month and meet their targets. Good luck.Walking Contradiction...

Fortune favours the brave so if you are really serious waltz in to the dealership & make them a firm offer. If they say no then walk away.
edit: I take it you haven't had a Novated Lease before? I've had 2 NLs. The Novated Lease company will only use their contracted finance provider. I doubt the 1.2% is a lease anyway & therefore wouldn't comply with the terms of the NL. Only your NL company can answer your questions.
Are NLs even worth it anymore? The figures no longer work for my situation since they changed the FB rates & mileage steps..Last edited by brad; 17-06-2015, 08:04 AM.carandimage The place where Off-Topic is On-Topic

I've heard from several people that some NL providers MIGHT accept an exterior finance agreement (as they, for instance, have managed it), but you don't bother asking unless you find a good offer. It's not a deal-breaker.
EDIT* I'm aware that it must be lease finance to be useful.Last edited by barfarina; 17-06-2015, 05:48 PM.

Maquarie Leasing benefited most from my Novated Lease.
As you are in Adelaide you should retain the services of forum member bbcrowdog. He is a financial planner & knows truckloads about NLs. Has a fairly new Octavia on a NL. I've known him from another forum for about 10 years & met him a few times - he'd be trustworthy.carandimage The place where Off-Topic is On-Topic

Like all financial products, it's horses for courses with NLs.
I looked at one through my employer's preferred provider, but because the finance, insurance and servicing rates paid by the NL company were so uncompetitive, I ended up in front buying the car in my own name. Not to mention that I actually own the damn car at the end of the arrangement!

Just curious on people's thoughts is it worth waiting for the MY16 if you're not in a huge rush (few dealers have said they'll have them here around Aug/Sep)?
I've read so many different assumptions like the base ambition is gettin the upgraded Bolero MIB2 6.5 entertainment unit. If this is the case and assuming it comes with or can be updated to mirrorlink that makes the ambition with travel pack one hell of a deal.
Does anyone have any confirmation that mirrorlink will come with the Bolero MIB2 (standard/option/not at all)?

I cancelled my MY15.5 to wait another 3 months to get it as I really wanted Mirrorlink given it's almost impossible to change the head unit due to the encryptionCAR: Race blue MY16 Skoda Octavia Wagon Ambition Plus DSG with tech pack and auto tailgate
