LOL with 37 yrs experience you would think he has come across a valved exhaust (or at the very least heard of them) or two in his time - they are quite common these days. Even my parents old 93 model Mazda 929 had a valved exhaust which only opened the 2nd exhaust tip when needed.

if that was the case, then only one of the two tips would b covered in exhaust soot.Originally posted by MountainBikeMike View PostNow a funny thing he noticed (37 years experience) was that the right side of the muffler tip is actually blocked off! Go check your own stock exhausts if you have them still! Everyone on here says the downpipe is the only restriction but I wonder now, is it? Cant fork out for a cat-back
it certainly wasn't the case when i had my stock exhaust.

as zei20t and Lucas_R have already mentioned - not uncommon these days.MY17 Superb 162TSI, Business Grey, Tech+Comfort Pack, APR ECU+TCU Stg 1, SLA, Rieger Splitter + Side Skirts, Eibach Pro-Kit Springs, Hardrace Swaybar, TPMS

Your on the money there. Both are covered equally. But I'd have expected the right one to be a little less black. Maybe I drive to hard :pOriginally posted by dArK5HaD0w View Postif that was the case, then only one of the two tips would b covered in exhaust soot.

 Downpipe compatability (TSI)

The valve opens and closes much more than i think you realise. A fellow forum member filmed his Golf R exhaust a while back: http://youtu.be/Ac-57_RW1f8

 Re: Downpipe compatability (TSI)

Get the tune, and you'll love it. It will give you 5 times more power than the dp.

I think the problem here is that @ 147kw stock, a better downpipe would be beneficial, but hardly neccessary unless its been tuned and putting out closer to 180kw. At that point it pays off handsomely as mentioned in this thread.

As far as sound goes most guys I've heard say its only a slight improvement if any. I havnt heard one personally.

I got my bluefin for $600. I think tigersoft are doing a 15% off at the moment. Call em!www.TheRapidWrench.Melbourne

Get a tune.. It does transform your car.
My car is so different especially over 4000..
Tigersoft have some good deals. I got quoted a few months ago 561.75 for my car...
I have a Viezu V-switch and even though my tune isnt exactly 100% yet (slight hesitation at 2800) I cant complain about the service...My11 Octavia VRS Tsi
Rockford splits in front - Tinted Windows - Viezu Perfomance tune - K&N Panel filter

Does anyone know the performance gain in just a downpipe...? Im sorta thinking its around 10kw and 20nm...??Last edited by 240z; 06-10-2014, 02:57 PM.

Cool, decided that tune is the way to go then... I like the sound of extra torque with a few simple mods... what are these simple mods you speak of...??Originally posted by zei20t View Postget the stage 1 tune first. youll love it and realise there is more torque to be had with a few simple mods

I really don't have much sound difference TBH. the standard exhaust does a good job of deadening the sound

 airbox/intake, downpipe+exhaust, add a stage 2 tune and you're driving a different car.

I also decided on the GFP DV+ dump valve addon thingo. it will hold higher boost than the stock valve, and not open when its not supposed to haha
