This and what code wrote are the same thing. one day after mucking around moving seats, I noticed ours was bunching up and stiff as a month or so back. Same time as the seat heater died. I looked on Briskoda and its common. Some people pull it out and turn it around, but they pretty much all seem likely to break. Ours is just bulging under the lever. Its always been stiff, probably buggered for yrs but only got worse recently and of course under warranty.

Dang! Forgot that one, add it to my previous list. About $400. Became progressively stiffer and started bunching up until I called time and got it fixed. The actual part is <$60 so if you don't mind the console being in a million pieces on your garage floor there's a DIY on Briskoda that will save you the other $350...

My old man had a rather interesting issue with his Octavia recently. It was to do with the ambient temprature sensor located near the number plate in the lower grill. It became faulty and couldn't display a readout on the MFD at all. And because of this the fans started going on all the time on full speed due to the car apparently thinking it would overheat. Air Con worked but Re-circulation didn't work at all.

All fixed under warranty though so all good

My left high beam wiring is loose and so the high beam doesn't work (at the least it told me on the MFD). Getting it looked at on Thursday.

            Only 2 issues with mine:
The Gearknob started laminating so bad it would cut my hand - Replaced with glass one under warranty
Check engine light came on after dealership degreased the engine (Went for a roadworthy here to change plates from SA to QLD and the mechanic said there was a oil leak which turned out to be spillage from last oil top up) Throttle Body replaced twice - so far so good.
            Thats about it!

I have a 2013 build and just have 2200km. After 100km I took the car back. I had lifted the bonnet and had paint peeling off the inside of the bumper. Lift bonnet, look down behind bumper, in front of radiator. Paint was peeling back and onto radiator.

Fixed under warranty. They pressure sprayed all the paint off the inside of the bumper. The dealer reckoned it was over spray but still resprayed the entire front bumper. Either way I have an extra coat of paint on the front bumper and no more peeling paint. Should give me a little more protection against stone chips?

The rest of the paint job is fine, but I must say, the paint seems 'softer' than my two Audi's had.

Who charged you $400? I saw the guide and it looks like hell to do. Way more complex than in my old Mazda 323, you just undue a few screws and that whole area lifted off. Ours has been stuffed for yrs I realized and probably should have been covered under warranty. It has always been really stiff.

Camberwell VW did it for me. Was just over $400 from memory (about $410?). I looked at the guide too and decided against it for exactly the reason you said. They did a good job except there was a bit of a rattle afterwards that I fixed by re-aligning the side panels of the console (just a couple of torx screws so no big deal).

That was over a year ago so unsure what they would charge now, or a Skoda dealer for that matter.

Those guys are right beside my office, but I have half a wonder if Richmond would do it for me as part of my long standing custom with them? In the old days probably, these days they will just fleece me. I'll probably order the part and get an independent to do it.

May be worth the cost of a phone call to Richmond?

Don't know if it works for you or not but Auto Union Deutsche is in Oakleigh, sounded like they knew what they were doing and had loan cars. Never got to try them but have seen positive feedback on the forum.

The fix for the handbrake slide is to lube it with liquid hand soap every month or so. Mine was stiff and bunching up from new, but no problems since lubing it.
Other than that, mine has been as reliable as a hammer over 3.5 years, I m starting to feel anxious over carbon build ups and cam chain tensioner failures though.

What is this handbrake slide problem that everyone is having? Anyone have a picture?

The handbrake slide is the plastic cover that goes around the handbrake itself and moves up and down a track as you move the handbrake. Over time it stops running smoothly in the track, resulting in it sticking and bunching up or crimping. Over time if left it can snap into a number of pieces. Symptoms are a heavy, stiff handbrake that tends to need to be pushed down rather than dropping down when released. A common issue.

If you want to know more there are a number of threads on Briskoda, including a complete DIY with photos of the slide, disassembled console etc. Some say the lube mentioned above works, others don't. It may depend how far gone it is. You may also be able to reverse the slide or gently file the guides. If you are doing a DIY I can't see the point. Last year a new slide was $57, so why mess around?

I think in the interest of objectivity perhaps you should point out that some of the bcm gremlins may have been introduced by you feeding them after midnight and getting them wet

Only issue I've had in 2 years and 40k is the dash rattle/squeak. intermittent license plate light issues have been of my own design due to $2 fleabay leds. Otherwise (touch wood) has been a trouble free ownership experience. As was my A3 and the Mazda6 I had previously, all from new.
