I don't hope so either. But I got the car back yesterday and it feels all very tight to be honest!!!

There is a bit of psychology involved when you analyse complaints reported with cars.

If your car is at the cheap end, you might be less inclined to complain because you knew it was a cheap car when you bought it. The very same complaint might be reported for a car that cost more, because then you have not bought a cheap car and you want it fixed.

One of the best examples was when Toyota and Holden rebadged come of their cars. Here, there were fewer complaints for the Lexcen and Camry compared to the Commodore and the Apollo despite them being built on the same production lines and intermixed with the manufacturers brand model.

So with complaints you need to look at a lot more than just what is being complained about.

You've got a point there, but I think you're perfectly in your right to complain a lot (if necessary) about $45000 cars though.

I was at Toyota when they rebadged the Commodore as a Lexcen (sp?). I can assure you there were plenty of complaints & many hours of warranty work done. The workshops didn't know what hit them as they were such pieces of junk compared to anything from a Toyota factory (even an Australian one). I think part of this was because some ning-nong in Toyota thought they could substitute a badly made 6 cylinder Commodore for a really well made Toyota Cressida & people wouldn't mind because it was cheaper. I think in the rebadge process Holden got the better deal.

Don't even start me about the Starfire Four that Holden supplied for the Corona. What a vile piece of junk that was.

          On topic:
          4 years / 100,000+km.
High Pressure Fuel Pump Regulator not long after purchase.
Boost Pressure Control Solenoid a while back.
Since 90,000km there's been a coolant leak (about 100ml every 500km) from the front of the engine - maybe near the water pump drive. About a month ago we put the pressure tester on the system to try & track it down & it hasn't leaked since. I can only assume an O-ring wasn't seated properly & the pressurisation forced it back to wherever it should be. Either way, I continue to monitor coolant level.
I had a squeak in the dash in Winter 2011. It seems to have disapeared as well (milder Winter this year??).

Nothing else out of the ordinary.

The problem seems to have sorted so far... Touch wood. Everything is A OK after a battery disconnect and a fuse check. Being serviced next week so the problem may be diagnosed then but until then, hopefully smooth sailing!

              spoke too soon.
Noticed when vacuuming car today that the gaiter/cover thingy (no idea what it's called) for the handbrake has broken into several pieces. bugger.

In almost 4 year of ownership....
                Airconditioning compressor died - warranty
Boot strut bolt collapse - warranty
The left side dash rattle - unresolved
                Hand brake rubber surround replaced
Boot sensor for alarm replaced under warranty - woke me at all hours on many occasions before it was fixed

Having said that the car has been a joy to drive and I consider the above a reasonably good run. Having said that my wife's v70 is 6 years older and has almost quadruple the Kim's and has less niggles. A very very well put together car.

My vRS is 30 months old, around 58,000kms on it. So far, these are the issues I've had fixed:

                    - ignition switch: I had major problems with the radio turning randomly turning off and on,
                    - fuel sensor: fill the tank, needle went straight to zero and stayed there for about half the tank.

The only other issue is a false reading on one of the trailer lights. The service guys swear that it is a flat in the trailer, but I rebid it myself and swear that I'm a great technician!

Lost cooling in the air conditioning (no joke, even in Tas, in a dark car - we had a humid 29 the other day - wierd for this time of year). VCDS said low gas pressure. Turned out to be the pressure switch (just to the right of the radiator) leaked all the gas out. AC place let me get a new one myself (their cost $113, mine $57). Regassed, but still not cooling, engine fan on high a lot. VCDS said high gas pressure. AC place had overfilled it and it must shut down the cooling if that happens (no dash warning lights though).

We had the turbo on our 2TDI replaced (under warranty) as it was making noises like a siren - but no noticeable loss in power.

Other than that (at 80k+), she's been great

I'm on my 5th Body Control Module.
First blew, second blew, third blew... Fourth was replaced because it wouldn't talk to the coding unit at the dealership. I had to unlock my car with the keys, for something like two weeks. It was horrible! XD

Got rear ended the other day, by a Subaru Imprezza.

I have a hole in my bumper, and the reflectors are cracked.
The Imprezza has a busted bumper, bonnet, fog light, indicator, head light unit, both grilles (in pieces)... Actually, the Imprezza looked like it had been punched in the face.
On the same day, I had a Tawney Frogmouth launch itself at my car whilst doing 70 in an 80 zone, on the way home from work... Ripped off one of my little Roo whistles and gave me some nasty scuff marks, but apart from that the car is fine.

As well as hitting a rather large kangaroo on the way home at 2am one day.
Coffee all over the centre console. I was devastated. I really wanted that coffee.

                              Here's hoping! :S

My mate isn't driving his '95 Frontera at the moment, though... So I may have to nick that for a few days!!
It has a pod filter on it, though, which gives a fantasticly almighty roar.
Pity its all bark and no bite.

In all honesty though, all the car needs after all that is a replacement rear bumper. Everything else is fine - boot lid, parking sensors(!), everything!
I'm just wondering how the Subie would have turned out if I had a tow bar! :S
