New 2014 Octavia Spied!

I have to say, I'm honestly a little disappointed with the new Octavia. I spoke to Skoda Germany and they couldn't confirm if a new RS will come out for this car. The have confirmed that there will be a 1.4/1.6/1.8ltr Petrol and a 1.9TDI coming out.

But the styling looks a little dull to be honest, and has too much of the Jetta/Passat.

Shame they didn't came up with their own lines of car like all the previous Octy's

I don't mean to rain on your parade, but I'm not really sure what you're referring to when you say that Skoda have their "own lines" or that the new Octavia appears like a Jetta or Passat... It has always been this case since VW took over, unless you are referring to back in the Soviet days?









I'm waiting until I see a new Octavia in the flesh and in some clear (and official) photos before I judge its looks...

I agree there are similarities to VW, but being part of the 'family' for a long time, does that surprise you at all?

That call was about as useless and at the same time informative as ringing Apple and asking if there will be an iPhone 6.
No automotive or other large company is EVER going to confirm that a vehicle or other product will be released to some random who rings from the other side of the world. Matthew Wiesner who should have some idea has said a vRS will be available in the new model about 6 months after it's released and I would actually put more credibility on what he says than a receptionist in Germany.

Nope, although I haven't driven one, I have driven in one on many occasions (my uncle had the Skoda 130 Å*koda 130 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia).

I wish I could say nice things about it but it was riddled with problems - as were many cars of the soviet era. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why my relatives question my choice of brand...

no surprises there
i like the interior finish very much.
it still retains the octavia's trade mark "figure" & front grill.

did they only reveal the liftback?

Looks like it has the bum of an Audi grafted onto it.
Shame about the loss of the covered tray on the top of the dash I find that handy for toll tags.

I like the lights on the front better but grill/logo part less.. Also will miss the tray on the middle of the dash.. But still looks nice, intersted to see if there is another Scout model, though if I bought another Skoda Octavia it would be a vRS I think (would be nice if they did a vRS 4x4)..

Interested to see what the wagon boot space is, the new MAzda 6 is 4.8m long but the WAGON boot space is only 450L, disgraceful, how is that a wagon?
