I have to say the front on view looks quite ugly IMO. Lot's of creases/lines intersecting each other making the appearance look very busy and not very clean and refined.

there has been no clean, untaped, undisguised view of the front released yet.
so yes, it is going to look ugly now.

OF COURSE! The black horizontal strip, headlights, grille surround, fog light surrounds are all taped to make the new model appear like the old one... Just wait until the production version photos are released - December.

I really love how Skoda have done their latest design cover-ups (the Rapid/this new Octavia). They're 'simply clever' (sorry ) in adding old generation details. I just hope that the final product does end up looking different enough...

And as per the way most of the others have been taped up it looks like there are LED running lights directly under the headlights rather than in the lower bumper as the vRS has them now.

One is too far away and out of focus to see if there are honeycomb insets in the bumper...

I reckon they are just testing Muels, with a mixture of all models thrown in while they test the running gear.

I wouldnt put too much faith in the appearance being close to the finished product....

I am not really taken by any of the shots as yet...nothing has really grabbed me as being really new or progressive...

maybe its a case of Skoda taking cues from VW headquarters.. conservative design like the new/latest Jetta.
