  • Yep. I heard they are billing it as the launch of the fastest vRS yet at the Festival of Speed.

          • I find it strange that Skoda puts all of these expensive features (the radar cruise control, auto high-beam, 9 airbags, etc) in the car, yet something as simple as a rear-view camera (standard on quite a selection of its rivals) isn't found at all on the new Octavia, let alone any new Skoda. I hate to reignite the rear camera debate, but the Octy II has terrible rear vision and a rear camera would have saved many bumps (for my mum) on our Skoda; where is it? Surely a rear camera is a must for families?

I don't have any issues whatsoever with my wagon... It has sensors, though

              • I agree with Jake that given the equipment level of the car the reversing camera should be included
(I was quoted $1,340 for the reversing camera - absolutely absurd give the cost of the parts)
But I also agree that the rear visibility is fine and the proximity sensors are excellent

I have to park my Octavia hard in the left rear of the garage within 4" of the side & rear wall
Between the side mirrors, rear view and proximity warnings, this is no problem at all

I take back anything negative I've said... That vehicle is beautiful.
Hell, even the DSG shifter looks the goods!!!

Yeah, Mat Watson is probably my favourite reviewer...
The new car looks good in red, I imagine a black rs would be something to see!

                      • good review, im glad the 'bad points' aren't really bad, or an issue with the current model. im disappointed with the boot not going completely flat as well with the seats down. however, ive put the seats down twice since Ive owned the car. so not really an issue.

                        • Actually from memory, the seat squabs can pull out making it completely flat which is why it doesn't do it. The big lip at the boot entrance is because you can put in that false floor and have flat loading as well.

I never noticed this until I bought the car home, and fair to say with a wagon, it's a right pain in the ar2e!!! And one thing I felt sure they would have rectified in the new model, but after seeing the above video I'm a little disappointed to say the least.

What is the purpose of the little step/lip at the base of the back seats?

I agree, the little lip is annoying, but it's more because Skoda Australia never offered the false boot floor which is another boot level to the same level as the rear seats. For the record, Octavia III wagon offers a flat floor, as well as a remote pull for the releasing of the rear seats.
