Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • What did you do to your Octavia today?

Thought I'd start one of these threads as I haven't seen one in here yet

    I'll start:

Gave the vRS its first proper wash (while in my posession). Hit it with the foam gun and then a regular mitt wash.

Unfortunately, I can now see all of the scratches that were covered by dirt

Luckily, I have all of this:

Hoping to spend a full day on Sunday to give it a clay and full paint correction.

I drove mine to the school bus stop, dropped my son off then came to work and left it parked outside in the sun.

Took mine to the dealer to get the front right indicator permanently-on issue looked at. Two hours later, they sent me home with an appointment for next thursday.
Got home, put the two HID kits back in.

Um I think the title of the post "What did you do to your Octavia today?" really refers to and should be read as "what mods or anything new you did to your Octavia today." Otherwise its gonna become a long and boring thread. I could be wrong though.

                Hahaha
All the other car sections have one of these threads, people generally get the right idea
If I'd said "What did you do WITH your Octavia today" instead of TO, I'd expect people talking about driving home from work and going to the shops

I picked up a new windscreen and booked a time for it to be installed. Boring.

I also picked up another chip from a rock that bounced across 2 lanes on Eastlink... came off a truck carrying an excavator, unhappy!

Was it covered under insurance of did you pay for it, I've always been curious as to what they cost.

Windscreen cost me $437 and install is going to be $140, but as my excess is $600, it worked out to be slightly cheaper.

Just ordered my 18x8.5 GT-CX matt black wheels shod with 225/40/R18 Pirelli P-Zero tyres. Should be going on the bumblebee next Friday. Can't wait.

Car going in for wheels alignment tomorrow morning since the coilovers have been installed.

Spent all arvo washing, claying, polishing and waxing the car. I'm well stuffed now!
Glad I decided to do it, managed to knock out most of the scratches that were put on it while it was a demo, and noticed and removed some pretty serious iron contamination on the roof. Luckily I bought 2 grades of clay, as I needed to use the harder stuff to decontaminate the roof.

God damn these cars have hard paint though, most of the scratches needed several passes with a light cutting pad to knock them down.
