Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Gotta do the missus' Peugeot first After looking at it carefully a couple of days ago, I will need to spend a solid week on it, honestly.

Nah a brotherhood is too simplistic. Since we're a really special bunch, lets make us a fraternity!!!

Today I bought some heat insulation and heat tape and wrapped my intake pipe.
Looks a bit cheesy against all the carbon fibre in the engine bay, but hopefully I'll get the temp it down a few degrees.
A testdrive up Mt D tonight should give me my answer! Yeeewwww!!!

p.s. Tooch, awesome job on the detailing! I wish mine looked that shmick.

My vRS got a basic hand wash in my front lawn. At completion of the wash it was crystal clear (not) that I need a high pressure hose/foam gun-not as clean as it should be

i put RainX Repellent on my windscreen + windows........damn it was awesome driving in the wet. did not have to use the wipers at all!!!
i drove from canberra to sydney in pouring rain - no wipers.
the water just rolled right off...very quickly.
was kinda cool - sorta like a matrix thingy, or flying though spare will all those droplets racing up the windscreen!!
                      highly recommended.

If I remember right there is a very compelling reason not to use RainX....I can't recall it though. I went to use it a million years ago, well actually I did in the lab but that was for entirely different kind of use.

I love Rain-x. Applied properly it's wonderful. Too much & the windows smear like crazy.

I've even started using Rain-X washer fluid

i got my VCDS cable the other day, programmed a few settings last night. tested it on the way home.

now its time to set the coming and leaving lights to be the fog lights instead of the headlights as i want to go HID

Have HID lows and highs. Something send my BCM (body control module) into a tailspin and left the front right indicator on. Even when car locked overnight, it was on.
Got the module replaced and put the HIDs back in, will see if it happens again.

Not to sound smart ass, but the above scenerio wasn't just the leaving the indicator stalk on to the right was it? I'd imagine the rear indicator would also be on in that case though.
