Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Got the module replaced and put the HIDs back in, will see if it happens again.

Hahah. Nope. I checked all that.
After five minutes of it being on it threw a bulb error. :p

I'm not actually sure, although I know for a fact that it ran a good 20,000km in my '11 Sorento.

          Oi! *points finger*
I'll still defend that Sorento. It's a beautiful vehicle, and it'll go places where a Nissan Patrol wouldn't. (Both vech. stock)
But then again, the 2.2ltr CRDi in the Sorento had more guts than the 4.2T in the Patrol... XD

Btw - Where abouts in Sydney are you located?

Received some Chinese LED rear light assemblies today. About 4 days after I ordered them. Has to be some sort of record for shipping from China...

Won't get a chance to install until maybe tomorrow but will update with some pics of them installed.

From the looks of them they aren't up to the build quality of the Milotec ones but were much cheaper.

The indicator and reverse bulbs are halogen but I'll swap in the led PS21Y globes I already have and leave the reverse as halogens.

Also looks like they are not just plug and pray, may need some coding as I'm not sure the connectors will be 100% but will see how I go...

Got them from alibaba, so the guy is a manufacturer. Dont think they have a direct web store or anything.
As he has no distributer in Aus he agreed to send me a pair. Usual minimum order is 50 pairs. Cost $US180 shipped.
If the install goes OK and I can work out coding that works, I'll ask him if he's interested in taking more individual orders. Don't want to annoy him with individual enquiries if it turns out they don't work. If they do then he may take some retail orders, else we'll have to try and put together a group buy (ie every Octavia owner in Aus

                      VERY reasonable cost!

I rekon he would go for 10 units, who wouldnt? money is money at the moment.

if you need a cable for programming, happy to lend mine out/help blah blah

Todd: Video with sound of that exhaust, now!

My car had its first service today, and I think it's a combination of that 'unexplainable phenomenon where your car feels smoother and tighter after handing over $X00 for basically an oil change", and the horrible camry they lent me as a loan car, but damn I appreciate my car. Just drives so tight and awesome, and is so engaging to drive. Got my boot liner too.

Seriously though, I never knew how horrible Camry's were to drive. Definitely a car for people who don't like cars.

Yeah very true. If he was prepared to go to the bother of shipping me one to test then he'll probably ship ten as you said.

Thanks for the cable offer, I have one lined up from another member as mine went whacko and although it connects and detects both K-line and CANbus, it is unable to communicate with most modules, and can't perform coding changes etc.

Have no idea if they will even work without the car throwing a wobbly due to missing circuits, but I am hoping that as they are designed for the China Octavias, it MAY just require me playing with coding until I get it right. Will update when I get a chance (maybe over the weekend) to test them.
