Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • I did another unscientific test yesterday.

In Toorak Village on Saturday evenings Skodas (0) are more exotic (or rarer) than Lamborghinis (1), Maserartis (1), Aston Martins (2), and XK Jaguars (2).

        • Skoda spotting

While having a coffee on corner of Grant Str and Marmion Str, Cottesloe saw two Octavias parked on the street (one station wagon, one sedan). Then turned around and saw a silver Scout going past roundabout. Thats three Skodas in a couple of minutes!! Sorry, I was on my bike so my Skoda was not there to make it four.

          • Yesterday (Sat 6th) about 5ish a grey Octavia Elegance (I think) pre FL travelling south along Narre Warren-Cranbourne Rd. I was northbound but I'm not sure they saw me.

Tunes who posts here at Alderley (Brisbane) in white FL RS Wagon (towing trailer) and silver Octavia Elegance Tdi at Kelvin Grove 5 mins later .... speaking with salesman at Brisbane Skoda who claimed they are now the No 1 Skoda dealer in Australia ... don't know if that is true or not ...

I now know what it feels like to be a bird watcher who has just seen some extremely rare feathered thing in the wild.

I'm seeing increasing numbers of Skodas in the western suburbs area of Brisbane (probably 6 or 7 this week alone) so the above comment could be true...

                      • Claiming that they are "now" the Number one dealer is meaningless. It may simply indicate that in the last month they outsold all the other dealers, it may not indicate a sales figure at all it may mean that they are rated as the best dealer for customer satisfaction or it may mean that the parent company of the dealership has changed it's name to "No 1 Skoda Dealer in Australia Pty Ltd".
These things are like statistics they can be twisted any way to suit the occasion.

                              • Saw a black pre-FL TSI at Collex near Geneva yesterday. I checked out it's rear end (is it said that I've reached the age where I check out cars' rears?) and it had "4x4" badge on the back, but not the heavy duty wheel arches of the Scout. Maybe they sell a straight forward 4WD version here.
