  • New & Very Happy GTI Owner

    Hi All,

Picked up new MkVI GTI a couple of weeks ago and absolutely loving it. Is a 3 dr in met black with pretty much everything except park assist & ACC.

For all you guys that are counting down the long months/weeks, it's worth the wait (mine took nearly 5 months!)

    Cheers,
    Jabba

      • Hello

        Hi All

I've been visiting this forum even since I ordered my first VW (Golf GTI) last Nov. I though it was time to join up and maybe share my thoughts about the car which I hope to receive in about 3 weeks.

        Cheers
        Ian

              • Here I am!

Hi everyone in the forum. The name's Steve and I have come to the dark side after a saucy relationship with a black BMW 5 series and my current mistress, a 2005 Porsche Boxster. My wife's Audi A4 was due for replacement and after much research (and the need to tow a boat I want to buy ) I fell in love with a 2010 Pearl Black Passat TDI 125 Wagon. VW's update in Feb to include the Highline trim and new seats plus $1k price reduction was a deal maker and my wife was convinced with the self parking and the rear view camera so we had to order it. Got the corporate discount and put it all back with all the options except ACC (seriously guys, we have eyes and if I need a machine to slow me down while cruising I ain't watching the road!).

I was first tempted with the R36 but the Boxster fulfills all those urges and more so we opted for the very nice TDI125 with the excellent (and much better than our Audi's CVT) transmission. I have to say that the Passat is a very nice comprimise between the 5 series and the A4 in that it has the size and the solid on the road feel of the 5er but the quality of the Audi (and some interior components!) plus some of the feel of the Audi such as the brake feel and a little of the steering (certainly better than the Audi's total disconnection but not quite up to the 5er's telepathic communication). The fitment is beautiful and I love the lines. The best part is the interior, which is important since we spend most of our time INSIDE the car. As an Accountant, value for money is important and I consider the 2010 Passat to be the best value out there bar none. Where can you get a German made car that big and that well appointed na dalmost fully optioned for $54k on the road? When we compared it with the Audi Allroad and BMW 5 we are more than $60k in front! No brainer.

Now we just have to wait till July to get it

So with VW buying up Porsche both our cars are all in the family.

Cheers and I hope to be a regular contributor.

                Steve

                            • hello!

                              Hi All,

I have recently ordered a MKVI GTI and thought I would join the forums while I wait the 150 odd remaining days until my new toy arrives.

These forums have been a wealth of info(tainment) for some time so signing my soul and some spare time over to the cult of vdub to join in seems like a good idea... even if only to provide comic relief.

Anywho, I'll see you around the forums ladies and gents. I look forward to participating in a drive day a little later in 2010.

                              Cheers.

Hi all, my name is Shaggy. After years of buying Golf's for my GF's, parents etc I have finally bitten the bullet and put a deposit on a MkVI Golf R. Still undecided on colour options yet (Thinking maybe blue if it is the same as the MkV R32), but have decided to go the full Sat Nav option out of pure lazyness. I was wondering if anyone could tell me with regards to saving music files onto the hard drive, what file types are accepted, and what bit rates etc. I'm kind of expecting it to be WMA, but before I convert a over 5000's to WMA Lossless on my PC I thought I better ensure that I'm spending my time (or teenage cousins if I can bribe them enough) ripping all this music. Anyway, can't wait to hear from you all with answers to these and so many more questions I will have.

                                Shaggy
