  • VIC Greetings!

Hello all, I'm an owner of a 2010 VW Golf equipped with the troublesome 118tsi engine (lucky me). Joined the forum in the hope of discussing with people their experience of getting the engine replaced out of warranty. My story is that my engine has blown, 2 cylinders with no compression even though the vehicle is sitting at 43,000kms.

Ultimately, I'm hoping for a replacement (at no fee) and to reinstall my confidence in VW!

Id start looking for a 2nd hand engine from a crashed vehicle.

As above man, you may want to start looking for place that has engines on shelf.
Try Golf City International in Clayton.

I haven't had personal dealing with them, but they seem to have engines in stock all the time.

Looks like a nice clean workshop!

Update: I got the car replaced via VW through a goodwill repair. Quite lucky given some of the other experiences on here.
