  • Fault with windscreen wipers

Hi folks, I’m having problems with the windshield wipers on my 2023 Tiguan, which has only done 15k so it’s still under warranty. They come on intermittently on clear sunny days on a regular basis when driving. I make sure the windscreen is clean so it’s not as a result of dirt, etc. I have disabled the auto rain sensing on the infotainment system and have turned off the auto wipers on the steering wheel stalk but they still come on when it is not raining. It is annoying and distracting to the point of being dangerous. At one point, I removed the fuse to stop it from occurring while I was driving. I don’t want to waste my time going backwards and forwards to a dealer only to be told they can’t find a problem. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if so, is there a fix.

Ben - If you have de-activated the RLS both on the MIB and the stalk and the wipers still sweep automatically, - it very much sounds like a real fault. I guess the tricky part about the dealer's diagnostic search for the fault will be the intermittent nature of the problem!!

Nevertheless, I don't believe that this is a matter that can (or, should be) tackled as a DIY fix

Thanks DV52. I’m hoping it’s something as simple as a faulty sensor. The problem has been raised on other forums with suggestions of loose or poor wiring and even steering wheel problems which resulted in a complete steering wheel replacement. In any case, I hope VW don’t stuff me around.
