Missed it in April due to co-driver getting drunk.
Went to general practise today to return 1:08:68 and a small off-road encounter with A1
Woah! A real fun lap. Love the excursion but you recovered well. Noticed another car spun up on the approach to the eastern loop. Looked like it was going nowhere.
The 175 kph trick is not going to work on the carouselle before the brakes get seriously upgrades. Brembos are $7000 which hurts
You must have seen the blue hyundai on the 3rd round who spun like crazy but did not hit anything.
I had another close encounter with axis going up to the last turn. Almost eneded up on the grass.
Little A1 is getting new race exhaust tomorrow and we gotta look at a couple of other mods.
Brakes cooked itself, we had to get the discs machined and change the pads to cope with the high temp.
A race computer is on the list.
All in all great fun and a dangerous track. Let's hope we can do it in less than 1.06 next time.
Some drivers on slow laps should not be there as Nathan noticed. Black Skyline was the worst offender.

Black skyline was his first ever track run in life, running on super extra stretched Achilles street tyres with 32psi (as advised by option 1 garage) and refused my advise to pump up (Dough always says to pump up to 42psi for street tyres). Lucky he did not pop his tyre bead off the wheels!

But u need actual timing from QR using their timing beacon to be accurate and official lap time claim.. through a sprint or timeatack event.
We have a member here (with extensive track experience and skills) running on real semi tyres in his silver Polo and he did 1:06.

I have an invoice for Race Chrono Lap Timer on my email.
The same for semi slicks as the tyres we have will only last max 1 time.
My co-driver Pierre has raced extensively in Europe with Megane RS and considering the 1.4 litre non GTI engine he has done quite a good time on the track. Its a realy pity its not a 2.0 TFSI as this would open a whole new area and 1:06 would be more than achievable.
1:06 is a really good time though. The Megane RS with 280 bhp was getting about that much on last race.

Are you referring to the touch screen, stand alone race chrono? They look pretty good with the obd one being pretty good value for money. Not sure of the analysis software. VWthunder is selling a vbox, perhaps check that out in the for sale section if it's not too late. The analysis software with vbox is simply awesome, almost worth the upgrade over my gtech. Good data gathering and analysis is the cheapest way to improve lap times IMO. I set sectors almost per corner to make analysis easier, plus allows you to "race corners" to learn a line per corner before learning a lap.
I'm getting 66.0x's at lakeside, seat of my pants suggests there's nothing left in it, they were highly committed laps, though looking at the data there's another .5-8sec on the perfect lap when looking at my sectors and speeds. On my fastest lap, I was almost 0.4sec slower through the last turn than previous laps. My corner speed was down but my line was good, perhaps I'd cooked the tyres earlier in the lap so wasn't able to commit as heavily on that last turn... Not sure I wouldn't mind being the slowest car out there as long as I know I'm getting everything out of the car, so that's always my goal.
I'm waffling now, you can probably tell this is something I'm quite into.

Hi mate, Thank you for your input.
The Race Chrono Touch Screen but I think i will go without OBD for now. It has pretty good options and allows you to improve in the corners by monitoring your split times as mentioned.
66 is great time and dooable in the A1 with a few more mods. We are a bit slow on the straight and this is bad. The cars which overtake us are slower in the corners generally speaking about bigger cars.
We met a Renault Megane RS bloke with 66 time as well. He was veeery fast and going with the fast boyz.
Will see you on the race track I guess mate, Are you coming on the next general practice?

When is the next general practice? Im waiting to pick up a second polo which will be a more hardened track car so am not expecting to run the silver one on the track again, or at least not often.
I was topping out at 180kph. Heres some vid with overlay, not my fastest lap though was within 1/10 of a sec I think. Need to change the camera mount cos the passenger seat flops around a lot but you get the idea. Lakeside Timeattack 22 March 2014: http://youtu.be/fO7H0ZZ3TZ4

I did apologise in advance. I'm old and grumble sometimes but usually I am just grumbling not making judgements.
Comments made under stress don't count and I certainly don't really feel that way in most cases. Antagonistic really only means opposing so to a point I agree.
But there was at least two drivers going slow round the course the blasting down the straight. Not considered good form but largely tolerated because none of us are perfect. Least of all me.

Apologies for thread revival, but I just saw your response.
Are you saying that I'm one of those? It's not as though I was holding you up, on the straight OR in the corners as far as I was aware. AN that was with a camera strapped to my head and my brother telling me to stop because he was going to throw up.
EDIT:
Upon rewatch, there is indeed one point, around 7:50 in your video when I did, indeed, cause you to slowdown (when I wasn't in traffic). Apologies. I wasn't really "on" all the time.
