            Re: EOI: Car weigh-in session

A normal trolley jack doesn't fit under mine either and it's not that low. I normally drive up on planks of wood to jack it up

Seeing that I had very little to do this morning (baby and wife asleep, son at kindy) I decided to have a dry run putting the GTI on the scales.

                  No Driver:

With Driver ie my fat ass:

                  On the scales:

So Golf GTI 07 4 door with stock suspension, no driver, nearly empty fuel tank and 32psi in the tyres is 3163lbs or 1434kg
with a 62.9% front, 36.9% rear weight distribution.

Bought a 1400kg floor jack today. So no one has to bring any tools.

Disagree. My car's 1600 and I'll only use one rated 1600+. Even the one I have doesn't feel super safe. I've got both a 14 and 16.

                            But thanks for getting one

                              Better safe then sorry.
So is the extra 200+ kg between the Golf R and the GTI is the 4 wheel drive system?

Definitely contributes. Heavier wheel/tyre, sound deadening, seats, engine, exhaust, electrical components...just speculating.
