Depending on the success of this little meet I might do it again. My wife seems tolerant...I'll gauge her acceptance after the said event.

So I need:
>Distance between tyre contact point with the ground from front to back.
>Track width from passenger side to driver side (from outside of tyres)
>Tyre width

I'll make everything nice a level so we get some accurate measurements.

"Distance between tyre contact point with the ground from front to back." - this is similar to wheelbase right? if so my 86 is 268cm (including a little extra for tyre contact point)

"Track width from passenger side to driver side (from outside of tyres)" - 184cm

"Tyre width" - 225 front and 245 rear.

oh btw how do we get the car on the scale? would jacking be required?

Nardi...yes the car will need to be jacked up so the scales can be placed under each tyre.

The floor is measured and marked out for the Polos and the 2 Door GTI (Yellow and Green tape), the Rs and the 4 Door GTI (Orange tape) and the 86 (Blue tape)


The scales are calibrated and working fine

Maybe a trolley jack...that's one thing I don't have.

Hopefully my new intake will be here then too. I might install it while the weigh in happens.

I have a pretty low aluminium jack, I'll bring that along. At home I usually lift the car with a widowmaker to get the trolley jack under. I'll bring one of those as well.
