Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • QLD EOI: Car weigh-in session

    Hello,

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in getting their cars weighed using my Proform 5000lbs (2200Kg) vehicle scale which I was have recently received back from overseas.

    Features of the scale are:
PROFORM's vehicle scale has been upgraded and now features Cross weight, Side/Side weight, and Front/Rear weight in addition to the standard weight and percentage for each wheel and total vehicle weight. The individual scale pads are 14 ½" x 9 ½" x 2 ½" with a 1,250 lb capacity per pad for a total scale capacity of 5,000 lbs. Scale is accurate to 1/10 of 1%.

If anyone was interested in corner weights and distribution this is a good opportunity to check.
Maybe turn a weigh in session into a bit of a social gathering with a BBQ.

    Putting it out there...

    List of takers:
    1. Vwindahouse - Polo GTI
    2. Donjuan - Golf R
    3. Machine - Golf R
    4. Seangti - Polo GTI

    6. Grandturismo - Golf GTI
    7. nardi330 - Toyota 86
    8. BenJ - BMW E30

Depending on when and if time permits I'd be curious, though I can't adjust anything on mine even if it's out of whack. As for availability, perhaps weekend of 17th, though better for weekends after that.

Might be a good idea to have it set up at a euro meet so people can park in the designated spot and get the results.

                  That's a good idea Clay.

It's pretty quick to set up. The only pain is making sure the area it's on is completely level so the the weights are true.
Setting up a laser level over the area and finding the highest point is the quickest way or use the good 'ol water level method. I've used vinyl tiles or 3mm to 6mm ply to build up the height under the pads to get everything spot on.

All Golfs and Tigs have similar distances between tyre contact points so my leveled area will suit all who have already expressed interest.

First time for this might just be at my joint on the North Side of Brisbane as I know my garage and what's required to level everything up.

If interest builds for a Eruo Meet an area can be set up and leveled.
