There was actually very little police activity for such a large number of cars. One passed us in the opposite direction on the way to Lobethal (turned around and pulled Damien (tigger73) over for a chat), and another radaring on the way to Palmer. That was it for what was a 180+km cruise for me. Surprising given that it was perfect weather and Rally SA was running over many of those roads on the same day.2008 MkV Volkswagen Golf R32 DSG

Yeah, that was the one I was referring to on the way to Palmer. I'm not familiar with many of the town names up that way.Originally posted by Ozrodent View PostDon't forget that sneaky one with the laser gun on the way to Tungkillo 2008 MkV Volkswagen Golf R32 DSG 2008 MkV Volkswagen Golf R32 DSG

Given there were a number of events on in the hills on the weekend I think we did amazingly well in terms of traffic.

Also if our cruises are going to have similar turnouts in in upcoming months we will have to give careful consideration to routes with as few right turns and give way intersections as possible. The original route we had planned had a number of right hand turns which could have caused problems out on the road so glad we had a back-up plan in place.

Also thanks to everyone for being generally well behaved on the roads. We all want to have a bit of fun and enjoy our cars but do it in a responsible way.

Was definately a great cruise...we were going to continue but really didnt want to run the risk of getting a fine for using my trade plate in the hills on a sunday. But all ok....already planned on regoing one or two of the other vehicles for the next one.Cheers again to everyone for a great morning !

Just throwing this out there.....Would it be a topic of interest of we organised a day out a Mallala ?
Not to attempt to damage ir destroy our cars, but to enable us all to have some track time in a secure environment.Plenty of clubs organise days like these and they can be quite fun.open to any vehicle we have also.Still rules to be followed on track of course but its a lot more stress free and nit as expensive as people think.

Certainly if someone is happy to do a bit of legwork on it I'm sure there would be a bunch of people interested.

The guys in Qld run happy laps 30 minute session with breakfast once a month for around $30 without need for all the safety gear. Untimed and with a "calming" device in the circuit to reduce speed on the back straight.

No overtaking except for the main straight.

Any excuse to get some new wheels hey ReschOriginally posted by reschard View PostBut think I may have to get me some lightweight 18's for occasional track time. Not keen on taking the low profile 19's on the track...

I have been on a VW Drive day at Mallala a couple of years ago which was quite good fun.

If there's something at the "come and try" level that would perfect. 30 minutes on the track would be heaps - any more and it burns up too much in terms of tyres and brakes.

Suppose I could use my 19" Talladega's and my left over RE-11 tyres if it was just a track day once a year... Anymore and then I could justify some 18's
